India complete series sweep over Bangladesh

ESPNcricinfo staff

India 154 (Rath 30, Rumana 4-20) beat Bangladesh 96 (Khatun 22, Yadav 3-15, Rath 2-15 ) by 58 runs

India completed a series whitewash over Bangladesh in Ahmedabad after winning the final ODI of the series by 58 runs. India chose to bat first and the openers put up 37 runs for the first wicket. But Panna Ghosh struck twice in as many overs to lead a stirring fight back from the Bangladesh bowlers. India continued to lose wickets at regular intervals as the Bangladesh bowlers, led by Rumana Ahmed (4-20), ensured that India did not get away with a substantial total. Contributions from Smriti Mandhana (23), Harmanpreet Kaur (29) and Swagatika Rath (30) pushed India's total to 154 before they were dismissed in the 49th over.

Bangladesh, facing a middling total to chase, faltered early and were reduced to 36 for 3 by the 14th over. thanks to some incisive bowling from India's seamers. Bangladesh continued to lose wickets as almost all of India's bowlers reaped benefits from the track. Only Salma Khatun crossed the 20-run mark as Poonam Yadav spell of 3 for 15, along with Ekta Bisht's 2 for 19 and Rath's 2 for 15, ensured that they kept a lid on Bangladesh's scoring. Bangladesh were dismissed for 96 in the 42nd over ending the tour in which they lost all three T20Is and all three ODIs.

@All_The_Way. Ur right mate BD womens team is better than their mens team. Atleast they are showing some fight. Salma Khatun is an amazing player. Equally talented as Shakib and Tamim. She should be an automatic choice for BD mens team.

@Fast - For your information the Bangladesh women's team just started playing Cricket last year :P but I'm sure they are better than you my friend :)

Congrats to India and well played Bangladesh. Nice to see the big gap between the two teams being narrowed down gradually as the tour progressed. I'm personally delighted to see Salma Khatun's all-round performance throughout the tour. Well, Mr. Bully, to the best of my knowledge, the last time the men from the two nations met in an ODI, the BD boys won. So your words - "men or momen, results will be same for BD" - is probably not true in today's context. Thanks.

Congrats to Women in Blue. Good work without any key players. But, men or momen, results will be same for BD!
