Persistent rain in the capital led to the third and final women's ODI between England and India at Lord's being abandoned. With wet weather preventing cricket from being played around the country, the umpires called off the game shortly before 2pm, giving England a 2-0 win in the series.

The no-result meant England took five points from the series and top the inaugural Women's Championship. England won the first two ODIs in Scarborough, by 42 runs (D/L) and 13 runs.

"This has been a very professional performance by the girls," Charlotte Edwards, England's captain, said. "India showed what a strong side they are during the Test match and I am really pleased with how quickly we bounced back from that disappointment and delivered when it counted in the Women's Championship matches.

"Clearly we would have liked to secure the full six points available from the three matches, but the rain here at Lord's today hasn't allowed that to happen. We are however happy to take five points into the next round of the Women's Championship, and to be off to a strong start on the road to qualification for the 2017 World Cup.

"We still have three Twenty20 Internationals to play this summer against South Africa in September, so our focus will now be on winning that series."

India return home having lost the one-dayers but victorious in the only Test earlier this month. England will play the first T20 against South Africa at Chelmsford on Monday, followed by a fixture at Wantage Road and a double-header with the men's game between England and India at Edgbaston on September 7.
