Joe Leach has had a promising start to his career having captained Shrewsbury School in 2009 while with the Worcestershire academy. That year he scored 586 runs at 58.60 and took 35 wickets at just 11.65.
At University he played for Leeds/Bradford MCCU, making his first-class debut in 2012 against Surrey. He took 4 for 73 in the first innings and bounced back from a 10-ball duck to score a second-innings half-century as his side failed by only three runs to chase 315 and cause Surrey quite an embarrassment. He followed up with 3 for 15 against Yorkshire and his Worcestershire debut soon followed. He held his own in five Championship appearances in a losing side. He also made his List A debut against Lancashire.
