Mick Raymer was an aggressive left-hand batsman and bowler of left-arm spin or medium pace who made 74 appearances for Queensland between 1940-41 and 1956-57. He was unfortunate in that no sooner had he broken into the state side as a 22-year-old than domestic cricket was suspended and he spent the remainder of the war in New Guinea with the 61st Infantry Battalion. He formed a useful post-war spin partnership with legspinner Colin McCool, and in 1951-52 the pair shared 15 wickets in a 10-wicket rout of the touring West Indians.
