World T20 - 5th match, First Round Group A

Afghanistan v Hong Kong

Afghanistan won by 7 wickets (with 12 balls remaining)

On your marks then. Irfan Ahmed, who was out first ball in the previous match, is on strike. Waqas Barkat at the other end. Shapoor Zadran to start off

The teams have had the national anthems already and we are only a few minutes away from the start. Both teams are making their way to the middle. Mohammad Nabi gives an animated speech to his wards in the huddle..

Sajib: "What is the tournament rule for progression of multiple teams tied on points? NRR or Head to head?" --- Sajib, first NRR, then head-to-head . You can find more info here.

S Ayubzai: "@Mark, we can still fancy our chances to qualify to the next round, beside the talent (we) the afghans posses, we have the luck that take us to the next round of tournament. Considering the previous tournaments where Bangladesh beat Afghans in the last two U-19 Asia cups and the recently concluded u-19 WC, yet afghan u-19 qualified for the semis and quarter finals respectively leaving bangladesh behind. Is luck going to help us again? "

"Hi commentator, what are hong kong chances if they win this match?" Hi Javed, Hong Kong's chances are no different from Afghanistan's - Win both matches and hope other results go in your favour.

3.00 pm Hong Kong have won the toss again and they will bat first. Jamie Atkinson says he would like to put up a total this time. Mohammad Nabi doesn't mind it as there is some grass on the pitch and they have good seamers.

Here's the Hong Kong XI - W Barkat, I Ahmed, J Atkinson, M Chapman, B Hayat, N Khan, M Dar (who won't bowl), T Afzal, A Khan, H Amjad, N Ahmed

Afghanistan - M Shahzad, N Tarakai, A Stanikzai, S Shafiq, N Zadran, M Nabi, S Shenwari, G Naib, H Hotak, D Zadran, S Zadran

Dave Townsend: "There is a bit of romance to this. Hong Kong v Afghanistan. Nepal v Bangladesh. Close your eyes and imagine distant and exotic places where people play the game that we love to a pretty good level. You do not see countries like this starring in the football world cup (Can I use the word "football"?) Great to see!"

"If Afghanistan win two consecutive matches in that case what will happen?" Hikmatullah, it all depends on other match results now. Afghanistan will need Bangladesh to slip up somewhere to have a chance to progress.

2.45 pm Hello and welcome to our coverage of the Group A match between Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Chittagong. The Afghanistan team suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the home team couple of nights ago, which have scuppered their hopes of making it through to the next round. That match was supposed to be the make or break contest in this group, but Afghanistan batsmen couldn't really bring the heroics of the recent Asia Cup exploits to the T20 stage. An upset however is never far away in cricket - who knows what will happen in the group if Bangladesh happen to go down to Nepal? But that is for the future. At the moment, it is Afghanistan v Hong Kong - Afghanistan will hope to win this win, but Hong Kong will need to come out of the decimation they suffered at the hands of Nepal..

Mark: "I don't think that there will be a neutral fan in the world who does not wish Afghanistan well and harbor the hope that Bangladesh will slip-up somewhere and give then a chance to get back into the qualifying fray. What these guys have achieved in so few years is amazing. Win the last two games and you never know..."

Dawood Banury: "Best of luck for both teams, as both lose previous or first match of T20. I will be monitoring the scores of both. Afghan Team need to keep wicket as least for 4 overs each. ignore 4-6, enjoy single or double. Thanks"

0.1

Shapoor Zadran to Irfan Ahmed, OUT, he is gone first-ball again! Wonderful delivery first up but an atrocious shot! It's full and fast and straight and Irfan plays a limp drive. He plays down the wrong line and the ball flicks the off stump en route to the keeper. The bail on the other side comes off. What a start for Afghanistan!

Irfan Ahmed b Shapoor Zadran 0 (2m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

The captain is here. Not a start he would have hoped for

0.2

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, no run, cracker of a delivery for the captain! This one takes off from a length and beats the outside edge, the keeper takes it chest high..

Two slips in place

0.3

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, no run, on target from Shapoor! It's quick, back of length and on off stump. The batsman stays in the crease and defends it to the off side

0.4

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, no run, he angles this one across the right hander who lets it go through to the keeper

Hasan: "Out in First ball?? Just like Bangladesh vs Afghanistan!"

0.5

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, 1 run, very very lucky for Atkinson this time! He goes for an aggressive pull to a short of length delivery, but gets hurried by the pace. The top edge hangs in the air for some time before landing just between midwicket and mid-on. Lucky

0.6

Shapoor Zadran to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, back of length delivery outside off, the batsman pushes it to off to pick up a quick single

End of over 1 (2 runs) Hong Kong 2/1 (RR: 2.00)
Waqas Barkat    1* (1b)      Shapoor Zadran    1-0-2-1
JJ Atkinson    1* (4b)

Gulbadin Naib comes from the other end

1.1

Gulbadin Naib to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, another tight single as the batsman dabs it to cover and scampers through

1.2

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, no run, length delivery on off stump, Atkinson comes forward and defends this to off

Naib doesn't have the bounce that Shapoor is getting, so Atkinson comfortable to come forward

1.3

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, 1 wide, this one is wayward, goes down the leg side

1.3

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, no run, he walks a couple of paces outside the crease and defends the length delivery to the off side

Aditya: "Ominous signs for HK. So far the team losing their batsman on the first ball has gone on to lose the match - that too very convincingly. Incidentally it was these two teams in their respective first outings."

1.4

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, FOUR, nicely picks the gap to find the first boundary! He comes forward and punches the length delivery through cover point with ease, Naib's pace being comfortably handled off the front foot here

1.5

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, 1 run, he takes a positive step out and defends the length delivery to the off side

1.6

Gulbadin Naib to Waqas Barkat, no run, he is beaten as he chases this wide half-volley. He didn't move his feet far enough to reach the ball though

End of over 2 (7 runs) Hong Kong 9/1 (RR: 4.50)
Waqas Barkat    2* (3b)      Gulbadin Naib    1-0-7-0
JJ Atkinson    6* (8b 1x4)      Shapoor Zadran    1-0-2-1

2.1

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, no run, looks for a yorker outside off, but it's a low full toss. The batsman fails to take advantage as he pushes this without timing to cover

2.2

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, no run, full and wide outside off, this is quick from Shapoor, around 139 kph. Atkinson presses forward to drive this to cover, but is a touch late and gets beaten

2.3

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, FOUR, this is convincingly pulled by Atkinson! It was a touch short and didn't rise up that much, the batsman was ready for that, swivels and whacks it over square leg

Only one slip now

2.4

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, FOUR, beautifully driven through extra cover! Atkinson doesn't fall into the trap of full-followed-by-short-one.. He moves forward nicely and crunches this one wide of the lone mid-off fielder

2.5

Shapoor Zadran to Atkinson, 1 run, he takes a forward step and dabs the length delivery to wide mid-off for an easy single

2.6

Shapoor Zadran to Waqas Barkat, 2 runs, looks for a yorker, but this is a low full toss outside off. The batsman is a touch too slow to come forward and edges this one fine through the off side to pick up a couple

End of over 3 (11 runs) Hong Kong 20/1 (RR: 6.66)
Waqas Barkat    4* (4b)      Shapoor Zadran    2-0-13-1
JJ Atkinson    15* (13b 3x4)      Gulbadin Naib    1-0-7-0

Naib to continue

3.1

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, no run, Atkinson walks down the pitch like Pietersen, comfortably defends the length delivery down the pitch. With his size, he has that KP like presence on the pitch

3.2

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, SIX, yes, this is exactly like KP! He chooses to stay in the crease and hammers the short delivery over midwicket with a murderous pull. He actually made the bowler bowl that short delivery. Wonderful. Imperious

3.3

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, 1 wide, now Naib loses direction, bowls this one down the leg side

3.3

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, FOUR, he means business! This is full outside off and it's clobbered over the non-striker's head for a one-bounce four. Atkinson is fast erasing the memories of that first-ball loss

3.4

Gulbadin Naib to Atkinson, 1 run, he walks down the pitch too early and gets a slow ball bouncer in return, adjusts late to dab it to short fine leg for a quick single

3.5

Gulbadin Naib to Waqas Barkat, FOUR, the last thing you need now is a misfield! Barkat comes forward and just times the length delivery through off, it goes through the cover fielder. That should have been stopped

3.6

Gulbadin Naib to Waqas Barkat, no run, finally he gets some extra bounce from the pitch and beats the bat, but this has been one expensive over

End of over 4 (16 runs) Hong Kong 36/1 (RR: 9.00)
Waqas Barkat    8* (6b 1x4)      Gulbadin Naib    2-0-23-0
JJ Atkinson    26* (17b 4x4 1x6)      Shapoor Zadran    2-0-13-1

First bowling change. The seam hasn't worked after that first ball. Hamza Hotak comes in

4.1

Amir Hamza to Atkinson, 1 run, pushed through on off stump, the batsman punches it to mid-on for a single

One deep square leg and wide long on in place

4.2

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, tossed up on the stumps, the batsman eases it to that fielder at long on

4.3

Amir Hamza to Atkinson, FOUR, quicker delivery, but this is on the pads and Atkinson swivels quickly to whip this fine on the leg side. No chance for the short fine leg fielder

4.4

Amir Hamza to Atkinson, OUT, that is the end of a wonderful short innings from Atkinson! This was tossed up, it drifted in and went straight with the arm to strike the batsman on the front pad. Atkinson was playing for the turn and pushes outside the line. The umpire waits for a bit but rightly raises his finger. That would have gone to hit middle and leg

JJ Atkinson lbw b Amir Hamza 31 (24m 20b 5x4 1x6) SR: 155.00

Mark Chapman, the 19 year old, is the next man in

4.5

Amir Hamza to Chapman, 2 runs, flatter delivery on the pads, Chapman stays in the crease and punches it to deep midwicket for a couple of runs

4.6

Amir Hamza to Chapman, no run, he waits on the back foot and punches it to cover

End of over 5 (8 runs) Hong Kong 44/2 (RR: 8.80)
MS Chapman    2* (2b)      Amir Hamza    1-0-8-1
Waqas Barkat    9* (7b 1x4)      Gulbadin Naib    2-0-23-0

Shenwari comes in from the other end.

Here's a list of all first-ball victims in ICC T20 events

Samiullah Shenwari to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, full and outside off, the batsman punches it to long off for a single

Mid-off is up, mid-on pushed back to the boundary

5.2

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, no run, full and outside off, Chapman drives it straight to cover

5.3

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, no run, some turn for Shenwari, it comes in after pitching on off, the batsman defends it to cover

5.4

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, no run, quicker delivery on off stump, the batsman punches it towards mid-off

5.5

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, 1 run, shorter and quicker on the stumps, the batsman nudges it to the left of midwicket for a quick single

5.6

Samiullah Shenwari to Waqas Barkat, no run, bowls a slider that Barkat didn't have much clue about. He hangs his bat and it hits the batsman on the pads, but this one would have gone down the leg side

End of over 6 (2 runs) Hong Kong 46/2 (RR: 7.66)
Waqas Barkat    10* (9b 1x4)      Samiullah Shenwari    1-0-2-0

6.2

6.3

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, no run, tossed up and slower outside off, the batsman comes forward and pushes it to cover

6.4

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, flatter and quicker on off stump, the batsman punches it to long on for a single

6.5

Amir Hamza to Chapman, 1 run, full delivery on off stump, the batsman drives it down to long off

6.6

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, flatter delivery on the stumps, the batsman dabs it to mid on for a single

End of over 7 (4 runs) Hong Kong 50/2 (RR: 7.14)
Waqas Barkat    12* (12b 1x4)      Amir Hamza    2-0-12-1
MS Chapman    5* (9b)      Samiullah Shenwari    1-0-2-0

Midwicket comes inside the circle

7.2

7.6

Samiullah Shenwari to Waqas Barkat, 2 runs, on the pads and the batsman places it with soft hands at the vacant midwicket region. They come back for a second

End of over 8 (4 runs) Hong Kong 54/2 (RR: 6.75)
Waqas Barkat    15* (16b 1x4)      Samiullah Shenwari    2-0-6-0
MS Chapman    6* (11b)      Amir Hamza    2-0-12-1

Another bowling change, Dawlat Zadran comes in to replace Hotak

8.1

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, no run, good first delivery! back of length on off stump, quick too. The batsman defends it to the off side

A slip in place

8.2

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, FOUR, this is a cracker of a shot! The batsman makes a little room and thrashes the length delivery through extra cover with a punchy drive

8.3

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, no run, oye hoye! That has hit him on the grill of the helmet! The batsman didn't help himself by moving down the pitch to a quick 142.5 kph short delivery. He looks to pull, but misses and gets smacked on the grill and goes down. He is smiling though. That was a boxer's jab. He is changed the helmet. Well that balances it out a bit between the bowler and the batsman, with the bowler letting him know that he has the pace to rattle

8.4

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, 3 no balls, another short delivery, but this is down the leg side and clips the thigh pad to go fine on the leg side. What more, Dawlat has overstepped.

Free-hit time

8.4

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, no run, he makes room to blast it through the off side, 144 kph, but misses the length delivery completely

8.5

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, 2 no balls, this one is quick too! He goes short with the length and it flies past the helmet again. Shahzad has to leap and he only gets a hand to that. Oh no, the umpire calls it a no-ball. That was an excellent delivery to me

8.5

Dawlat Zadran to Waqas Barkat, 1 leg bye, he dabs it to the off side for a quick single, 143 kph. The bowler gets to the ball, turns and fires a throw at the non-striker's end, but misses. Would have been tight

8.6

Dawlat Zadran to Chapman, 1 leg bye, bowls a length delivery on the pads at 136 kph, the batsman looks to nudge it to the leg side, but misses. The ball grazes the pads on its way to third man

End of over 9 (11 runs) Hong Kong 65/2 (RR: 7.22)
MS Chapman    10* (18b 1x4)      Dawlat Zadran    1-0-9-0
Waqas Barkat    15* (17b 1x4)      Samiullah Shenwari    2-0-6-0

Mohammad Nabi brings himself on. He comes round the wicket to Chapman

9.1

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 1 run, he comes down the pitch and throws his bat at that one, but doesn't get any timing as he plays it to deep midwicket

Over the wicket

9.2

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, no run, tossed up delivery on the stumps, the batsman defends it down the pitch

9.3

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, comes down the pitch and chips it to long on for a single

9.4

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 1 run, clears his front foot and whacks it across the line to deep midwicket

9.5

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, FOUR, on the pads and Barkat finds the gap at fine leg with a carefully controlled sweep, it beats the man at deep backward square leg

9.6

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, no run, flatter delivery on the stumps, the batsman defends it to midwicket

A decent start by Hong Kong in the first 10. But can they make it to 150? Against Nepal, they capitulated in the second half

End of over 10 (7 runs) Hong Kong 72/2 (RR: 7.20)
Waqas Barkat    20* (21b 2x4)      Mohammad Nabi    1-0-7-0
MS Chapman    12* (20b 1x4)      Dawlat Zadran    1-0-9-0

10.1

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, no run, is that a missed stumping! The batsman created room and wanted to smash it through off side, he misses and Shahzad misses too..He had dragged his feet out, so yes, it is a chance

10.2

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, no run, looks to reverse sweep and misses this one. Good take by Shahzad this time

10.3

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, FOUR, short delivery, pulled high up towards deep midwicket where two fielder's converge, but the fielder from deep square leg doesn't get under it.. What more, he misses and is slides under the legs of the second to reach the rope

10.4

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, SIX, now take this one! Chapman has got some serious bat behind that. This was leg-sidish and it's flicked away with awesome power over square leg. The fielder there can watch it go to the crowd...

10.5

Samiullah Shenwari to Chapman, 1 run, he stays in the crease and punches this to long off for a single

10.6

Samiullah Shenwari to Waqas Barkat, no run, stays in the crease and chops this one to short third man

End of over 11 (11 runs) Hong Kong 83/2 (RR: 7.54)
Waqas Barkat    20* (22b 2x4)      Samiullah Shenwari    3-0-17-0
MS Chapman    23* (25b 2x4 1x6)      Mohammad Nabi    1-0-7-0

11.1

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 2 runs, flattter delivery, Chapman is on a roll here, he comes out of the crease and slaps it to deep midwicket. Good work by the fielder to keep it in

11.2

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 1 run, fuller delivery on the stumps, the batsman punches it to deep midwicket

11.3

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, 2 runs, this is nicely chipped over the bowler's head, very nicely played shot and safe too

11.4

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, FOUR, he comes down the pitch and this one is beautifully hit over extra cover! Again, no power, just pure timing. The ball was not full enough so even more points for that control in that shot

11.5

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, no run, there is an appeal for stumping as Barkat plays inside the line of a fuller delivery! Shahzad takes the bails in a flash. The third umpire is checking this but this could be a no-ball.. very close for Nabi. I think he should he ok, although very tight. Barkat should be safe too, he dragged his back foot well in time

DhilipRaja: "Man, I was never interested in associate nations before this Asia cup. But they prove they are no less than Test playing nations and that they need a little push and technical advice. Only AFG came to light weeks back, but now, Nepal, HongKong seem to possess capability to fight back. And the reason is pretty simple. Test playing nations fight for their pride. Associate nations fight for their survival. That is the difference that makes things interesting."

11.6

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, flighted delivery on off stump, Barkat drives it to wide long on for a single

End of over 12 (10 runs) Hong Kong 93/2 (RR: 7.75)
Waqas Barkat    27* (26b 3x4)      Mohammad Nabi    2-0-17-0
MS Chapman    26* (27b 2x4 1x6)      Samiullah Shenwari    3-0-17-0

Hotak comes back ..

12.1

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, no run, he is created with a punchy straight drive! Hotak does well to stick his boot out to stop that

12.2

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, no run, what has happened here! Hamza hotak has taken all three stumps down but looks like Chapman is going to survive! Barkat sliced it to point, but Chapman ran halfway down the middle. The throw comes to Hotak and all he needed to do was take the ball and flick the stumps as Chapman is nowhere near. But, he throws himself on to the stumps. Unfortunately the ball is not in his hands. What a waste...

12.3

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, 2 runs, comes out of the pitch and punches the full delivery to long off where a misfield allows a second

12.4

Amir Hamza to Waqas Barkat, 1 run, he comes out of the crease again and softly dabs this one to deep midwicket for a single

Roger: "@DhilipRaja: I fully agree. I am totally enjoying the level of cricket being played and the enthusiasm of these Associate players. Once we get real Hong Kong players playing for Hong Kong, that would make cricket more interesting. It would prove its international appeal. Right now, it doesn't."

12.5

Amir Hamza to Chapman, 2 runs, he comes out of the crease and also makes room, then he chips it over the bowler's head for a couple of runs

12.6

Amir Hamza to Chapman, 1 run, flatter and shorter, the batsman tries a reverse pull, but doesn't fully get hold of this as he plays it to short third man

End of over 13 (6 runs) Hong Kong 99/2 (RR: 7.61)
MS Chapman    29* (29b 2x4 1x6)      Amir Hamza    3-0-18-1

13.1

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 1 run, full and on the blockhole, the batsman digs it out towards long on

20moy: "Roger: In that case, I'd really like to see Papua New Guinea entering into the fray. The team is good, they played well in the IC cup and none of them is an expatriate"

13.2

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, 2 runs, he comes down the pitch and is early on the chip shot, this goes high, but lands safely between the long on and long off fielders

13.3

Mohammad Nabi to Waqas Barkat, OUT, oh no, he was playing that chip shot so well and he chooses to play a scoop instead! This is exactly like Misbah getting out in the World T20 final in 2007! An easy catch for short fine leg fielder

Waqas Barkat c Dawlat Zadran b Mohammad Nabi 32 (67m 32b 3x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

Ashfaq: "I believe these Hong Kong players know about Hong Kong more better than their own country as most of them were born and raised up here in Hong Kong. As a resident of this city, i can also see the Chinese people learning cricket. So, this game is very promising here."

13.4

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, no run, he comes down the pitch and looks to hit across the line, but inside edges it to short fine leg

13.5

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, no run, quicker delivery outside off, the batsman punches it to extra cover

14.1

14.2

Shapoor Zadran to Chapman, no run, fuller delivery on the pads, the batsman drives it straight to midwicket

14.3

Shapoor Zadran to Chapman, 1 run, cramps him for room as he targets the leg stump, the batsman tucks it to square leg for a single

Round the wicket now

14.4

Shapoor Zadran to Babar Hayat, 1 run, fires in a yorker outside off, the batsman digs it out to deep cover

Mark: "Personally I don't have a problem with the Hong Kong side, as long as they are legally qualified to play for Hong Kong. Let these players grow cricket in the region and I imagine you'll start to get born-and-bred players from HK coming through. Now, if in 10 years time the team is 11 ex-pats still, then you've got a problem... until then let's see what these can do."

14.5

Shapoor Zadran to Chapman, FOUR, wow! Chapman aims to guide this low full toss to the square leg boundary, but it takes a leading edge and flies to the deep backward point boundary. Welcome runs

14.6

Shapoor Zadran to Chapman, 1 run, he walks across to the off side and whips the length delivery to midwicket

End of over 15 (7 runs) Hong Kong 110/3 (RR: 7.33)

Dave: "That's a daft remark. Some of the Full Members have players born and/or raised elsewhere, so why quibble about the Associates? On that note, what I would like to see is Irish and Dutch players allowed to return from England to their home nations whenever they like."

15.1

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 1 run, he comes out of the crease, takes this one on the full and punches it down to long on

15.2

Mohammad Nabi to Babar Hayat, FOUR, this one is beautifully timed through extra cover! Babar steps out of the crease, takes the flighted delivery on the full and caresses it though extra cover

15.3

Mohammad Nabi to Babar Hayat, OUT, well, he has the memory of that previous shot at least! He sweeps this one, but gets a thick top edge that is easily taken at deep square leg

Babar Hayat c Asghar Stanikzai b Mohammad Nabi 5 (9m 3b 1x4 0x6) SR: 166.66

15.4

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, no run, he punches the flatter delivery straight to extra cover

15.5

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, no run, looks to punch this through long on, but gets a thick inside edge on to his pads

15.6

Mohammad Nabi to Chapman, 1 wide, he fires this one full but this is down the leg side. Well taken by Shahzad

cricket nut: "Not that I want to poach players from associates English style, but is Chapman eligible for NZ? I know he was born and grew up in HK, but his high school and university education has been in Auckland. I'm also guessing his parents weren't Beatles fans"

15.6

Nizakat Khan c Mohammad Nabi b Amir Hamza 9 (11m 4b 0x4 1x6) SR: 225.00

18.2

Dawlat Zadran to Tanwir Afzal, OUT, this time there is a direct hit! The batsman dabs it to mid off and calls for a quick one, but the fielder fires a throw and breaks the stumps at the striker's end. Dar was well short. Good thinking by the fielder to target the slower of the two runners

Munir Dar run out 3 (11m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Justin: "I just read the article about the suspended bowler because of his action - the pictures showed him in his follow through - first time ive seen a spinner wearing a short sleeve shirt in a long time - i wonder if he would have been reported if he was wearing a long sleeve shirt? Seems to hide that extra bit of flex in the elbow. "

18.6

Dawlat Zadran to Tanwir Afzal, FOUR, this one is much better blow! It's a full delivery and he gets under it in time to launch it over the infield to the extra cover boundary

"Without wishing to sound overly harsh, if he can't bowl why on earth is he playing? He's probably not that agile in the field and he averages less than ten with the bat?" Simon, I heard he was playing as batsman

End of over 19 (11 runs) Hong Kong 146/7 (RR: 7.68)

Shapoor Zadran to Haseeb Amjad, FOUR, a lower full toss outside off, the batsman slices it over point to finish with a boundary

Hong Kong huffed and puffed in the middle overs as they lost a few wickets, but they will be happy with the finish. This is a good score here. They have something to defend now. It was set up by three 30s from Barkat, Atkinson and Chapman, but useful runs came towards the end. Back in a bit for the chase. Chapman hopes they have got enough. He thinks the pitch has got something in it for the seamers.

Roger: "I watched this team play early on and they were CLEARLY good for 180 runs EASILY - despite the early setback. I think they are about 22-26 runs short of what would be a massive victory. I still want to see them win, though!! Fingers crossed for penetrative bowling and tight fielding when their turn comes."

M Qamar ul hass: "I think Afghans have done well to restrict Honk Kong to an achievable target. They just have to bat sensibly now. Difficult for the pathans though ;)"
