World T20 - 13th match, Group 2

India v Pakistan

India won by 7 wickets (with 9 balls remaining)

7.30pm Kamran akmal and Ahmed Shehzad to open the batting, and a surprise move by India - R Ashwin gets the new ball. so far in his international T20 career, Ashwin has bowled three first overs, 19 runs for no wicket.

7.25pm The teams line up for the national anthems. rajasahadevan: "Man, Its nostalgic!! Seeing India-Pakistan come together for National anthem, Getting goose-bumps!! ".

Ovais: "Well here's a sentence I have never heard or even had the audacity to think of: "This Pak-Ind encounter seems like an anti-climax given the Associates' match earlier," but man! that was one awe-inspiring Dutch carnage... the most sensational T20 win I have witnessed."

Vaibhav Vadapal: "Glad to see Mishra in the line up. He bowled exceptionally well in the last match against Pakistan and almost won the match for us in pretty much similar conditions. Lets hope this time he is on the other side after 40 overs."

RAS: "Irfan Pathan is so 2006, people please get over him. He is not coming back."

Sree: "@Faiz - Aaron has been a complete failure in international cricktet. His lack of control, and multiple beamers indicate he is not yet ready for primetime. The speed is good, but one-two years in the domestic working on line/length would help him a lot."

7.15pm Have you read out preview package for this big game? Here are quotes from Dhoni: Raina and Yuvraj give major lift and Hafeez: Afridi's form a boost.

And here are our team previews. Pakistan brimming with all-round spin strength and Lack of T20I exposure poses questions for India.

Faiz: "Would have preferred the aggression and pace of Aaron than having Bhuvi in the line-up."

India's fan favourite still getting calls for inclusion. SaranKocherlako: "I think Irfan Pathan should be in Indian team. I think he bowls better than Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and bats well too. Thoughts?"

Prasad: "this is the best team India could have picked. Playing Mishra who has more experience in International cricket is better than exposing someone like Binny or Mohit Sharma".

7.10pm So India go in with three spinners, and have Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina capable of bowling a few overs spin each. Too many tweakers or are India better off backing their strength, than playing an extra seamer.

Ankita: "Mishra plays! Mishra plays! How did that happen?" India tired of experimenting with a third seamer, with no one working out.

Ali: "Yes! The legendary Shoaib Malik is in the mix to prove to the world that he is well worth the trust bestowed by selectors.....And that was just pure sarcasm. I wonder how he gets into the team, after going through so many life lines." India have only three players from the 2007 final playing today: Dhoni, Rohit and Yuvraj. Pakistan have five: Hafeez, Kamran, Shoaib Malik, Afridi and Gul.

Sarcastic Shahz: "Pakistan's wicket keeping over the past few months has been boring- most chances taken. We really missed Kamran Akmal. Thrilled to have him back"

7.00pm India have decided to bowl. They are playing three spinners, but do not want to take a chance with the dew. They have to give their chosen XI the best of the conditions. Kamran Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad are Pakistan's openers. The XIs are being updated at the top of the screen

Time for the toss now. MS Dhoni and Mohammad Hafeez walk out along with Ramiz Raja. Dhoni says he is relieved some of the acrimony has gone out of the India-Pakistan rivalry. Hafeez says they are not thinking of the history, of not having beaten India in a World Cup match ever.

Will surprises never cease? A reader happy with the team selection. Kamran: "It's that time of the "commentary feedback" where we criticize the team selection. But, as a Pakistani, I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. This is easily the best team they could have picked."

This is more of what we expect. Shrikar: "I don't understand why Rohit is playing.. unless he's going down the order, in which case who will open? because Rohit's scoring rate has been dismal while opening, to say the least"

6.30pm All settled down after that jaw-dropping assault from Netherlands? India v Pakistan encounters are blue-riband events, but the teams will be hard-pressed to match what we just witnessed in the Netherlands- Ireland game.

Already the build-up to this game seems to have been more low-key than the usual feverish run-in to these games. MS Dhoni says the intensity is still there, but the acrimony between players is not there these days.

So who are favourites? India will point to their record against Pakistan in the World T20 - wins in all three matches. Pakistan will point to the last month's high-octane encounter between the two sides at the same stadium, when Shahid Afridi blasted two sixes in the final over to deliver a famous victory.

Even the biggest name in Pakistan cricket says that Asia Cup match will be a factor. Imran Khan: "Shahid Afridi's last performance against India will have a major psychological impact on the match."

6.50pm Big prizes on offer in our Fantasy Game. You have about 40 minutes to make your changes.

Ahmed Shehzad    0* (0b)

Bhuvneshwar Kumar shares the new ball, which means debutant Mohammed Shami will have to wait.

Sri Tella: "I think India should have gone in with extra batsman in place of third spinner. They should go in with Ajinkya Rahane as an opener and move Rohit down the order. Both these players performed exceptionally well at these positions in IPL. If Dhoni wants to ride on IPL experience, he should learn to use his players to their strengths. "

1.4

Kumar to Kamran Akmal, FOUR, lovely placement from Kamran Akmal, it is a packed field around point, but he still finds the gap, that's his second boundary

1.5

Kumar to Kamran Akmal, OUT, Kamran Akmal is usually involved in comedy wicketkeeping, this time it is a comical mix-up, not his fault though, he charged down the track looking to work the ball to the leg side, doesn't connect and the ball dribbles to the off side, he wanted a leg-bye, Shehzad also did, at least till he took two or three paces, after which Shehzad decided he didn't want one, Akmal was a long way down, Bhuvneshwar has plenty of time to take aim, he hits, the stumps are flashing and Akmal is on his way

Kamran Akmal run out 8 (8m 10b 2x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

1.6

Kumar to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, oh dear, what's happening out there? nearly another run-out there, another attempted leg-bye, this time towards the leg side, this time Shehzad was very enthusiastic, though Hafeez wasn't, Shehzad was halfway down the track before he had to scamper back, luckily for him there's no direct hit

End of over 2 (5 runs) Pakistan 9/1 (RR: 4.50)
Mohammad Hafeez    0* (1b)      B Kumar    1-0-5-0

Raj: "Can anyone explain the benefits of the LED stumps and bails? Heard the bails are as expensive as an Iphone? Is it a useful addition or just colorful addition?" Purely colourful.

End of over 3 (6 runs) Pakistan 15/1 (RR: 5.00)
Ahmed Shehzad    6* (4b 1x4)      R Ashwin    2-0-10-0

Mohammed Shami to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, driven on the up towards cover, no timing on it and it dribbles to the fielder

3.6

Mohammed Shami to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, more misunderstanding between the batsmen, again it is after the batsman fails to make contact and is looking for a leg-bye, the ball rolls in the direction of point, Shami does the fielding, Hafeez and Shehzad take a start before turning back

SpiderCam: "The bails are not there for purely colourful purposes. The bails lit up when they are dislodged from the stumps. At times when there is a close call for a run out or stumps, the LED lights help to make the decision." Some controversy over the bails in the Big Bash.

End of over 4 (2 runs) Pakistan 17/1 (RR: 4.25)
Mohammad Hafeez    2* (9b)      Mohammed Shami    1-0-2-0

Mohammad Hafeez    5* (13b)      B Kumar    2-0-10-0

5.1

Mohammed Shami to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, dropped by Yuvraj Singh at deep midwicket, Hafeez plants his front foot forward and swats the ball to the leg side, not quite off the middle, Yuvraj has work to do, he manages to get under the ball but it was a low chance ahead of him, couldn't pouch it

India will be thrilled with their bowling effort. Even yesterday, Dhoni talked about the bowling being an area of concern - 130 for 7 is a score he will be more than satisfied with.

There hasn't been too much talk of dew so far today.

Amit Mishra: "Bit of turn in the track there, whenever I get the chance I look to perform for the team. With the batting line-up we've got, it should be easy to get this target."

Idrees Kanchwal: "Good bowling performance from India. Finally 3 spinners and we close up our run leaking seam attack. Apart from a few mistakes in the field and a few overs going for runs, pakistan has been restricted well. Can't blame the bowlers now if India cant get to this total."

     Mohammed Shami    4-0-31-1
Bilawal Bhatti    0* (0b)      B Kumar    3-0-21-1
