World T20, 27th Match, Group 2: Bangladesh v Pakistan at Dhaka, Mar 30, 2014
World T20 - 27th match, Group 2
Pakistan won by 50 runs
30 March 2014 - day/night match (20-over match)

All set, the batsmen are here, the fielders are here, i am here, you are here, the supporters are here. Shehzad to take strike. Mashrafe Mortaza to start. One slip in place

shakhawat: "As a Bangladesh Fan we do not mind the figures of 0-0-8-0 and would love to see some of them today as well."

3.20 pm Time for my favourite bit, the national anthems.. and two of my favourite ones too.

3.15 pm Not quite a full house at the moment, but you know it will soon be chock a block with a lot of noise ..

"I think Cricinfo should publish more comments before a T20s match starts, because when a match go on Its like a Formula One race for commentator" -- Upen, it's already time for Formula one.. Hamilton is in the lead in KL

3.00 pm Pakistan have won the toss and they will bat first. Hot conditions, suited for batting is Hafeez's reasoning. Sohail Tanvir comes in for Bilawal Bhatti.

Mushfiqur says they have to click in this game. Abdur Razzak comes in for Sohag Gazi

"Any thing about pitch report and par score ? I like to have them in memory," --- Khobab, the pitch looks 'tired' according to Sanjay Manjrekar and Athar Ali Khan expects 160 to be par..

2.45 pm Warm Sunday afternoon in this part of the world. The temperatures, though, are running a little high in the home side's camp. They were handed a shock defeat in the qualifying round, they were thumped by the other teams once in the league round. The tournament is not over for them yet though. Two more chances to garner something out of this. It is not going to be easy though - against Pakistan, they have only ever won once (across formats), that too 15 years ago during the 99 world cup. Pakistan are not going to make it any easy for them - they played a brilliant game against Australia..

"This match is important for Pakistan as well since they have to secure points prior to meet with Indies. But in any case they has to crush indies with good run rate to qualify for Semi final otherwise ...."---- otherwise, it's a quick jaunt to the airport Farrukh. Yes, very important game for Pakistan. The format has worked very well this time, it's keeping the interest up for everyone..

"As much as I would like an easy win for Pakistan, I hope the match brings out some intensity after the long layoff in the schedule for the Pakistani team. It might become difficult to match the intensity of a highly pumped up and rallying West Indies (based on the emotions displayed by them in their match against Australia)," says Kamran

"Go Bangladesh! You are the better team and we believe in you! Yours sincerely, Australia," says Mac, highlighting the fact that Australia's chances in the tournament are firmly hinged on a Bangladesh win here.

"Well, even if Pakistan win this match, thereby making the Ind-Aus match a dead rubber, they along with West Indies will follow that match with a bit of curiosity because if India win, it will be an India-South Africa semi final and a West Indies/Pakistan winner vs New Zealand/Sri Lanka winner semifinal ! If Australia win, then various combinations come into play !" --- I couldn't have worked it out better Jiten, but then, I never paid attention to permutations and combinations class in high school

17.3

Shakib Al Hasan to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, he works it away to deep midwicket to move to 99..

17.4

Shakib Al Hasan to Shoaib Malik, OUT, this time he has done it! This is the repeat of what happened two balls ago, but this time Malik misses it and is stumped! He moved way too early and Shakib fired it wide outside off

Shoaib Malik st †Mushfiqur Rahim b Shakib Al Hasan 26 (42m 23b 2x4 0x6) SR: 113.04

Afridi is the new man

17.5

Shakib Al Hasan to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, fuller delivery wide outside off, Lala gets off the mark with a powerful drive to long off

17.6

Shakib Al Hasan to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, he gets there with a neat drive through cover! The first Pakistan batsmen to get to the landmark.. Well played Shehzad.. The most noticeable bit is that he hasn't really knocked the cover off the ball, done it so easily

End of over 18 (5 runs) Pakistan 156/4 (RR: 8.66)

    • Ahmed Shehzad 100 (58b 9x4 4x6)
    • Shahid Afridi 1 (1b)
    • Shakib Al Hasan 4-0-21-1
    • Al-Amin Hossain 3-0-27-0
18.1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, SIX, now he opens up! Mortaza digs it short and Shezad powers it over square leg with no-nonsense pull

18.2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 no ball, not this time! He smashes the fuller delivery straight to long-on, to Tamim.. Oh no, this is a no-ball.. This is a big no-ball. What a day for the man..!

Free-hit... to Lala

18.2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Shahid Afridi, SIX, he murders this full delivery over extra cover! Afridi is not going to let these ones go.. So much power

18.3

Mashrafe Mortaza to Shahid Afridi, SIX, another powerful hit in the same area!Mashrafe is allowing a lot of room for Afridi to swing his arms.. Anamul takes the catch at the edge of the boundary, but falls over the ropes

18.4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Shahid Afridi, no run, short and wide, the batsman lets it go and checks with the umpire to see if it's a wide.. it's not

18.5

Mashrafe Mortaza to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, length delivery, Lala swings across the line but doesn't get hold of it.. Straight to the man at deep midwicket

18.6

Mashrafe Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, full and wide outside off, Shehzad guides it easily pass the short third man fielder! This is poor from Bangladesh.. Pakistan are running away with this

End of over 19 (24 runs) Pakistan 180/4 (RR: 9.47)

    • Ahmed Shehzad 110 (61b 10x4 5x6)
    • Shahid Afridi 14 (5b 2x6)
    • Mashrafe Mortaza 4-0-63-0
    • Shakib Al Hasan 4-0-21-1

Al Amin to bowl the last

19.1

Al-Amin Hossain to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, Lala looks to smash the back of length delivery over cover, but gets a thick edge over backward point.. There is no one back there..

Third man is placed now

19.2

Al-Amin Hossain to Shahid Afridi, 2 runs, the batsman slices this full delivery straight to that man at third man...it's a single.. No, they sneak a second as Mushy doesn't gather the throw cleanly

19.3

Al-Amin Hossain to Shahid Afridi, 2 runs, length delivery outside off, the batsman whacks it to deep midwicket .. There wasn't any timing on that shot, so the fielder got time to cut it off

19.4

Al-Amin Hossain to Shahid Afridi, OUT, length delivery, again he doesn't get full hold of this, flat-bats it straight to long-on. No no-ball this time

Shahid Afridi c Ziaur Rahman b Al-Amin Hossain 22 (12m 9b 1x4 2x6) SR: 244.44

Lala goes for a quickfire cameo..

19.5

Al-Amin Hossain to Sohaib Maqsood, 1 run, fuller delivery this is another wicket! No, this is a poor drop from Nasir at long-off. Simple chance, he gets ample time to settle under it and just drops it like that..

19.6

Al-Amin Hossain to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, good delivery, full and outside off, the batsman can only hit it to long-on

Ahmed Shehzad goes back all satisfied.. unbeaten on 111. What an innings it has been! So different from the century Alex Hales hit the other day. It's almost as he did it maintaining some silence.. Very ninja-like from Shehzad.. Pakistan have put up their second consecutive strong total and Bangladesh have a tough task in their hands - life doesn't seem to be getting any easier for the home team. Back in ten

Mashid: "It is once again bad captaincy by Mushfiq. As the seamers were getting pounded, he did not consider his spinning options such as Nasir or Sabbir. How bad could it be considering Mashrafee averaged over 15 an over. A captain must take these changes in t20 format. His bowling changes has been bad consistently."

Adrian: "If the batsmen crossed on the no ball when Shezad was caught in the second last over, surely two runs were scored. If so, then Pakistan finished on 191."--- the only reason I can see is that they possibly didn't complete the single

End of over 20 (10 runs) Pakistan 190/5

    • Ahmed Shehzad 111 (62b 10x4 5x6)
    • Sohaib Maqsood 1 (1b)
    • Al-Amin Hossain 4-0-37-1
    • Mashrafe Mortaza 4-0-63-0
