Played at Providence Stadium, Guyana (neutral venue)

Chigumbura to Dilshan, OUT, gone, Dilshan's horror patch shows no sign of ending, and that shot said it all. Short of good length and straight, and Dilshan is not in the kind of form Mahela is, but still went through with the straight lofted drive. Timing was conspicuous by its absence, and it ballooned for an easy catch towards mid off.

TM Dilshan c Mpofu b Chigumbura 2 (8m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, no run, full outside off, Mahela is sucked into the cover drive and checks it at the last moment. Goes straight to cover

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, no run, back of a length, Mahela gets forward and opens the face, but cannot run it past point

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, no run, slower ball slides down the leg side, and Mahela gets something on it, but good save from Taibu saves some runs

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, FOUR, slow and high bouncer outside off, Mahela is not seeing it like a football, he is seeing it like a blimp. Rides the bounce and upper cuts it easily for a four, very fine in the third man region

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, 1 run, drives the length ball on leg stump down to mid on for a single

Sri Lanka 29/1   E Chigumbura 1-0-5-1

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, SIX, Mahela does it again! Down the track, driven on the up, inside out for a big six over extra cover. The pitch is slow, the ball is not coming on to the bat etc., but Mahela is batting on a different planet altogether.

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, 1 run, straighter this time, tucked away to midwicket for one

Chigumbura to Perera, 1 run, ooh, close run out opportunity, but the stumps were missed. Glanced away straight to short fine leg for a tight single and Mahela would have been out by a yard - so far it has looked like the only way he can be dismissed.

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, no run

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, FOUR, my oh my! Timing all the way! Similar ball to the one he hit for six, but this time, just for variety, he decided four would suffice, extends the arms and drives through the line over the head of extra cover and the ball purrs away to the boundary. It almost seemed happy to get there, when treated with such finesse and touch!

Chigumbura to Jayawardene, FOUR, no, bowling short is not an option Mr. Elton, Mahela seemed to say as he rocked back and cut it fiercely through point and cover for four more!

Sri Lanka 49/1   E Chigumbura 2-0-21-1
