ICC World Twenty20 - 11th match, Group A

Australia v Bangladesh

Australia won by 27 runs

Time for action then! Watson and Warner are out there and Mortaza marks out his run up.

12:55pm Santo: "Thought of the day : Today in the WI vs SAF women match.. Deandra Dottin's was the first hundred of T20I and she was a Westindian and that too against southafrica and that too in a T20 world cup's first match.. does this ring some similarities of what gayle did in jo'burg some 3 years ago!!!" Nice observation Santo! Some innings that was from Dottin, coming in at No. 6 in the 10th over. She hit nine sixes and seven fours in that unbeaten century.

12:46pm Mind you, Bangladesh still has a good chance to enter the next stage. If they win today, then it will be a three-way tie between Aus, Bang and Pak. And then the calculators will come out for net run-rate calculations. The best two will then go through.

The big news is that Sachin Tendulkar is now on Twitter. It's not yet 24 hours since he created an account, and the man already has 75,000 followers. Won't be surprised if he breaks some records in this field as well. For now, Ashton Kutcher holds the record with nearly 5 million followers - he is the Don Bradman of Twitter. Barack Obama weighs in with 3.8 million.

12:35pm Still some time to go for the start, in sunny Barbados. Meanwhile, do check out some of our features.

Toss: Michael Clarke elects to bat. "The pitch looks fantastic. It does help to keep winning, so we will look to keep our momentum going forward. Mitchell Johnson is out, Ryan Harris comes in for him."

Shakib: "We have to bowl really well. We will look to restrict them to 160-165. Jahurul Islam and Aftab Ahmed are in. Tamim Iqbal and Suhrawadi Shuvo miss out." Tamim is injured from the looks of it - big blow that for Bangladesh. Johnson has picked an elbow infection, and is expected to play in the next stage.

A warm welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of Match 11 of the ICC World Twenty20. It is Australia v Bangladesh, and believe it or not Bangladesh are seeded higher. Not many will expect them to win today though, given how clinical Aus were in their opening game against Pakistan. Bangladesh have also not won a Twenty20 game now for 11 matches. Can they reprise their Cardiff antics today? Toss coming up.

I am Nitin Sundar, your commentator for the game. Gopi Rangarajan and Venkat Raghav will keep score.

0.1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Warner, no run, short of a length on off stump, Warner hops and defends it down. Bounce and pace already conspicuous on this track.

0.2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Warner, no run, length ball, on leg stump, Warner gets forward and looks to flick but can't get it away

0.3

Mashrafe Mortaza to Warner, 1 run, sliding down leg and Warner makes connection with the nudge to square leg. He is away

0.4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Watson, no run, ooh, big left from just back of a length, and took Watto by surprise as he shaped to cut. Thudded into the keeper's gloves at good pace

0.5

Mashrafe Mortaza to Watson, 1 run, good line, slightly fuller outside off, Watson opens the face and runs it down to third man

0.6

Mashrafe Mortaza to Warner, no run, on middle and off, draws Warner out and he off drives without much power straight to mid off. Good start from Mortaza

End of over 1 (2 runs) Australia 2/0 (RR: 2.00)
DA Warner    1* (4b)      Mashrafe Mortaza    1-0-2-0
SR Watson    1* (2b)

1.1

Shafiul Islam to Watson, no run, short of a length and Watto cannot capitalise. He mistimes the pull, a trifle early into the shot and it goes straight to midwicket

1.2

Shafiul Islam to Watson, 1 wide, slides down the leg side for the first wide of the day

1.2

Shafiul Islam to Watson, no run, angles in and raps him on the pads in front of middle and leg. Good ball, but it was sliding down the leg

1.3

Shafiul Islam to Watson, 2 runs, length ball angling into Watto who gets on the front foot and swings his arms to send it over midwicket. Not timed too well, still gets a couple

1.4

Shafiul Islam to Watson, 1 run, straight ball on middle, dropped to the leg side for a single

1.5

Shafiul Islam to Warner, SIX, he's smashed the cover off that one! Short of a length and angling across Warner without much pace, he had enough room to free his arms and swat that high over long off. Clean hit

1.6

Shafiul Islam to Warner, FOUR, goes the other way, it was marginally fuller and straighter this time, so Warner decided to despatch it over mid on. One bounce over the ropes.

End of over 2 (14 runs) Australia 16/0 (RR: 8.00)
DA Warner    11* (6b 1x4 1x6)      Shafiul Islam    1-0-14-0
SR Watson    4* (6b)      Mashrafe Mortaza    1-0-2-0

2.1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Watson, OUT, Watto's gotta go! Mashrafe bowled a great first over, and now gets his reward with a very well-directed bouncer. That was fast and directed at Watto's body, he was hustled into the pull and was quite late on it. The top edge went high and when it came down, it landed in the hands of Aftab Ahmed who took a good tumbling catch.

SR Watson c Aftab Ahmed b Mashrafe Mortaza 4 (10m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 57.14

2.2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Warner, no run, great lines from Mortaza, short of a length, pushing Warner back as it angles across, defends off the back foot, without having any room to play an aggressove shot

2.3

2.5

2.6

Mashrafe Mortaza to Clarke, no run, good finish to the over, short of a length again with a little shape away from Clarke and good carry. The Aussie captain makes the right decision - do nothing

End of over 3 (5 runs) Australia 21/1 (RR: 7.00)
MJ Clarke    0* (2b)      Mashrafe Mortaza    2-0-7-1

3.1

Shakib Al Hasan to Warner, no run, good start from Shakib, troubles Warner outside off

3.2

Shakib Al Hasan to Warner, OUT, and he gets his second ball! Warner does not play spin very well, and the previous ball sowed some seeds of doubt in his head, possibly. He was down the track this time, did not get to the pitch as it turned into him and still went with the loft over midwicket. He did not time it too well and the catch was taken well by the fielder running in

DA Warner c Aftab Ahmed b Shakib Al Hasan 16 (17m 11b 2x4 1x6) SR: 145.45

3.3

Shakib Al Hasan to Clarke, no run, speared into the right hander, who defended it straight

3.4

Shakib Al Hasan to Clarke, no run, shortens the length marginally, he gets forward and defends

3.5

Shakib Al Hasan to Clarke, no run, some turn on offer, squared Clarke up as he looked to turn it to the leg side and hit his pads.

3.6

Shakib Al Hasan to Clarke, SIX, wallop! Clarke dictates terms to his opposite number in authoritative fashion. Down the track, inside out, with the spin straight over long off. Beautiful shot that

5.5

Shafiul Islam to Clarke, 1 run, oooh, another tight single and I dare say a direct hit could have had them sweating. Good length again, short of a length and he could not time the cover drive. It went straight to cover, but the fielder could not get in a good throw

5.6

Shafiul Islam to Haddin, 1 run, drilled straight back and Shafiul does well to half stop it and it nearly hits the stumps at the bowler's end

End of over 6 (5 runs) Australia 35/2 (RR: 5.83)

9.4

Mohammad Ashraful to Clarke, OUT, the skipper is gone! Australia are stuttering here, and Clarke's played an unnecessary shot to give his wicket away. MJ Clarke c Jahurul Islam b Mohammad Ashraful 16 (27m 21b 0x4 1x6) SR: 76.19

9.5

Mohammad Ashraful to DJ Hussey, 1 run, Dropped by Jahurul at long off! Hussey plays a carbon copy of Clarke's brain-freeze shot, but times it a little worse, so jahurul had to run in, he got to the ball, and then put it down as he was tumbling forward.

Shafiul Islam to MEK Hussey, 2 runs, Hussey jumps out to convert the yorker into a hittable ball and takes it on the full, he drives it from outside off to the left of the fielder at long on who does extremely well to cover ground and fire in a sharp throw, but the bowler fails to collect cleanly as he tries to break the stumps. That is a missed run-out chance.

Shafiul Islam to MEK Hussey, 1 wide, OUT, Smith is run out. That was very wide outside off and Hussey could not connect as he stretched out. Smith was eager to run across and nearly made his ground, but Rahim's under-arm got him just short of the crease. Great innings from Smith

Shafiul Islam to Harris, 2 runs, Harris drives to long off without any timing, so there was enough time to come back for the second. Good last over from Bangladesh, despite going for seven off the last two balls

Mike Hussey has turned in the kind of performance Australia has come to expect from him. Australia were in big trouble when he came in, and in characteristic style, Hussey has turned it around with a smart innings. Steven Smith gave him sound support and Australia have recovered thanks to their stand of 74 in 7 overs. Still Bangladesh will fancy their chances, and Pakistan will be watching this game with a little bit of anxiety.

If Bangladesh chase this in 19 or fewer overs, Pakistan will be knocked out of the tournament. On the other hand, if Bangladesh bat out of their skins and get there in under 14.4 overs, Australia will miss out on the next stage, while Pakistan will go through with Bangladesh on net run rate. In other words, if Bangladesh chase the target in anything between 14.4 and 19 overs, Pakistan will be out of the tournament.

Lots to watch out for - should be an interesting chase.
