ICC World Twenty20, 17th Match, Group E: South Africa v West Indies at The Oval, Jun 13, 2009
ICC World Twenty20 - 17th match, Group E
South Africa won by 20 runs
Played at Kennington Oval, London (neutral venue)
13 June 2009 (20-over match)

1.29 A minute to go the start. Kallis and Smith walk follow the West Indies fielders to the middle. Exciting contest in the offing if Taylor and Edwards can bowl as well as they did against India. Taylor to bowl, Kallis to face, Gayle and yellow-rimmed sunglasses in first slip. There's a second slip too.

1.25pm National anthems going on. People in the crowd who spot themselves on the camera stop singing and start waving. What fun

1.00pm It's a clear day at The Oval. David Lloyd feels the surface will have good pace and bounce. Chris Gayle has won the toss and will field. He says: "Even though the pitch is good, I don't see why we can't chase. It would have been nice to get some time between games, but hopefully we can put up a good fight against South Africa.

"Hopefully I can hold on to a few catches wearing these sunglasses [the bright yellow ones]. We haven't been the best in the outfield."

Graeme Smith would have liked to chase too, but he is not too upset with the toss. South Africa have made no changes to the team that thrashed England. Nor have West Indies tinkered with the winning combination.

12.45pm Will lightning strike twice? Can West Indies stun two of the strongest sides in the draw in two days? If they play as well as they did yesterday, why not? But will South Africa let that happen? We will find out over the next four hours or so.

There's also lots to read on Cricinfo on yesterday's play. Andrew Hughes saw the world in an over. It helped that the over is an 11-ball one, bowled by Sohail Tanvir. At Lord's George Binoy found out it's always India v Pakistan, even when the two teams are not playing each other. And Off the Record reveals who the greatest batsman in the world is. Plus, insights on how England's dismal display in the World Twenty20 is actually aimed at getting a headstart on their Ashes preparation.
