Jack Van Geloven, who died in Edinburgh on August 21 after a long illness, aged 69, was the last Leicestershire player to do the double of 100 wickets and scoring 1,000 runs in a season. He played three times for his native county Yorkshire in 1955, before joining Leicestershire for whom he played from 1956 to 1965.
