Zimbabwe Triangular Series - 3rd match

Zimbabwe v Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won by 9 wickets (with 64 balls remaining)

1.5

Fernando to Taylor, OUT, and Dilhara has struck, very strange shot from Taylor, who reacted to the short-of-length ball outside off, by backing away to the leg side, the way Chris Martin would have. It moved away off the seam, and in the end, he offered a limp nothing shot outside off, it kissed the edge and landed in Chandimal's gloves.

BRM Taylor c †Chandimal b Fernando 2 (7m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40.00

Zimbabwe 4/1   H Masakadza 1* (6b)   CRD Fernando 0.5-0-2-1

6.3

BAW Mendis to Lamb, OUT, and Lamb holes out this time. Mendis continues to work on that short of a length area, on leg stump and Lamb goes for a sweep without much idea of what the ball is doing. The top edge loops up to square leg, where jeewan Mendis runs back to take a nice catch. Lamb has been doubly Mendis-ed, so to speak.

GA Lamb c BMAJ Mendis b BAW Mendis 10 (23m 19b 0x4 0x6) SR: 52.63

Zimbabwe 28/2   H Masakadza 13* (16b 2x4)   BAW Mendis 0.3-0-4-1

12.3

BAW Mendis to Ervine, OUT, Mendis has his man, it was always on the cards, and as was to be expected, it is that lethal googly of his doing the trick. Ervine came down the track, almost as if he was in a trance, rolled his head skywards and swung the bat towards midwicket, the ball duly turned away, took the outside edge and nestled in the hands of the lone slip fielder. Seeya later

CR Ervine c Dilshan b BAW Mendis 7 (23m 20b 0x4 0x6) SR: 35.00

Zimbabwe 64/3   H Masakadza 36* (32b 3x4 1x6)   BAW Mendis 3.3-0-13-2

15.5

Randiv to Coventry, OUT, gone. Coventry was looking fidgety and wanted to dominate the spinners, this was in his slot and he looked to hit straight, but got too much elevation, at the cost of range, it went high and swirled around, before landing in Thissara Perera's safe hands

CK Coventry c Perera b Randiv 11 (12m 11b 0x4 1x6) SR: 100.00

Zimbabwe 83/4   H Masakadza 43* (41b 3x4 1x6)   S Randiv 3.5-0-19-1

16.3

BMAJ Mendis to Chigumbura, OUT, ah! Tragedy this - Chigumbura is gone to one of the few bad balls on offer, and Jeevan Mendis has his maiden wicket with a rank bad long hop, Chigumbura went for the pull and got a bottom edge on to the stumps.

E Chigumbura b BMAJ Mendis 1 (2m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Zimbabwe 85/5   H Masakadza 44* (43b 3x4 1x6)   BMAJ Mendis 1.3-0-6-1

17.1

Randiv to Blignaut, OUT, another one bites the dust. Vicious turn from Randiv, from round the wicket, ripping across Blignaut from leg stump to off, beating the forward prod. It hit something, from first view it seemed like his thigh, and was pouched behind. The umpire reckoned it was an edge

AM Blignaut c †Chandimal b Randiv 1 (3m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

Zimbabwe 86/6   H Masakadza 44* (44b 3x4 1x6)   S Randiv 4.1-0-19-2

17.6

Randiv to Cremer, OUT, he's a gonner! Perfect offie's dismissal, that was tossed up outside off, eliciting the batsman to flick towards the legside, but leaving him complacent enough to do so without closing the bat-pad gap. It beat the shot, and snuck in to shatter the timber

AG Cremer b Randiv 2 (2m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

Zimbabwe 90/7   H Masakadza 46* (46b 3x4 1x6)   S Randiv 5-0-23-3

18.5

BMAJ Mendis to Utseya, OUT, and now a dream leggie's dismissal for Jeevan Mendis! Beautiful, ripping legspinner turning across from leg stump and defeating the forward prod. The batsman over-balanced on the front foot and Chandimal whipped the bails off in far lesser time than it takes to read out BMAJ Mendis' full name

P Utseya st †Chandimal b BMAJ Mendis 0 (2m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Zimbabwe 92/8   H Masakadza 47* (48b 3x4 1x6)   BMAJ Mendis 2.5-0-9-2

24.4

Fernando to Masakadza, OUT, Masakadza's effort has come to an end, thanks to another smart bouncer from Fernando. He was looking to get forward, and was taken by surprise by the short one, but went through with the pull. It looped over midwicket, and Kulasekara running back, took a good catch and tumbled over backwards.

H Masakadza c Kulasekara b Fernando 62 (108m 69b 4x4 1x6) SR: 89.85

Zimbabwe 116/9   RW Price 8* (14b)   CRD Fernando 4.4-0-24-2

24.5

Fernando to Price, 1 run, OUT, Fitting end to an innings full of fits and starts. Price looks to shovel the full ball to the leg side, and the comedy of errors begins with his leading edge that takes it high towards the covers. Jeevan Mendis runs in miles from the boundary and dives forward, but fails to collect the catch. Price is keen on farming the strike and looks to take a second, and Perera notices he is halfway down, and lobs a throw to the bowler who breaks the stumps.

RW Price run out 9 (29m 15b 0x4 0x6) SR: 60.00

Zimbabwe 118/10   CB Mpofu 0* (0b)   CRD Fernando 4.5-0-26-2
