RELATIONS

Wisden Obituary Brian Wishart was a tall allrounder who attended Ellis Robins High School in Salisbury (now Harare) and represented Rhodesian Schools in the South African Nuffield Week in 1966. He was a right-hand bat and fast-medium bowler who played one List A match for Rhodesia (scoring 0 and failing to take a wicket in five expensive overs) as well as some Rhodesia B games during the 1970s, and might have gone further had it not been for the presence of Mike Procter and Robin Jackman in the national side. Known as 'Wish', he was a larger-than-life character whose ready wit and exaggerated drinking exploits were legendary. It was a great shock to the cricket community when he was killed in a car accident, being hit at an intersection at night by an unlighted lorry. His son Craig is a Zimbabwe international.
