Profile

A wicketkeeper/batsman, Charles Clark was one of those unfortunates whose first-class career would have amounted to much more had his time at Oxford University not almost all overlapped with World War Two. He had established himself in club cricket in Melbourne by the time he moved to England in 1938 to study. He made his mark in the 1939 Freshman's match with 44, and was included in the first few matches of the summer. However, Oxford fared badly, Clark did moderately, and the team was radically changed midway through the season and he lost his place.
