Profile

Colin Cook was a bearded top-order batsman who struggled to break into a Middlesex side packed with internationals - in his first season they fielded a team in which every member had played Test cricket. He played a Youth Test for England in 1978-79 and was largely used as a fill-in by Middlesex, although he only once passed fifty in 11 matches. He started promisingly, scoring a career-best 79 on his Championship debut in 1981 and a List A best of 73 on his one-day debut three days later. Thereafter, it was disappointment.
