John Harvey played 204 matches for Derbyshire between 1963 and 1972 as a middle-order batsman, scoring 7538 runs at 24.16. He passed 1000 runs in a season three times (1966, 1968 and 1971) with his best season coming in 1971 when he scored 1226 runs 32.26. After retiring from first-class cricket he played for Berkshire from 1978 to 1987 and had two spells with Cambridgeshire (1958-59 and 1973-77). He was also a groundsman at Bradfield College.
