Zimbabwe Twenty20 Triangular Series - 4th match

Zimbabwe XI v Bangladesh XI

Bangladesh XI won by 6 wickets (with 15 balls remaining)

Welcome back. We should have an intriguing chase on our hands here. Bangladesh need to win to stay in this tournament and Zimbabwe have set them a chase-able total in Harare.

Prosper Utseya will open the bowling and Tamim Iqbal is back.

0.1

Utseya to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, Zimbabwe open with a spinner for the first time in the tournament and there's a run right away

0.2

Utseya to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, full from Prosper and some flight on it too, defended

0.3

Utseya to Mohammad Ashraful, FOUR, grunt of frustration there, too far down leg side and Ash helps it on its way through mid-wicket for four. The ball has disappeared under the grandstand.

0.4

Utseya to Mohammad Ashraful, 1 run, straighter, into the legs and tucked away for a single

0.5

Utseya to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, Not what Prosper wanted, too full, Tamim is under it and that's over the top, couple of bounces and four

0.6

Utseya to Tamim Iqbal, no run, ends quietly but perhaps the experiment did not work for Zimbabwe here.

End of over 1 (10 runs) Bangladesh XI 10/0 (140 runs required from 19 overs, RR: 10.00, RRR: 7.36)
Tamim Iqbal    5* (3b 1x4)      P Utseya    1-0-10-0
Mohammad Ashraful    5* (3b 1x4)

Chris Mpofu to share the new ball

1.1

Mpofu to Mohammad Ashraful, FOUR, not a great one, too wide outside off and its cut away behind square to third man

1.2

Mpofu to Mohammad Ashraful, 1 run, Bangladesh in much more of a hurry than they were on Sunday, driven to Jarvis at mid-on and they are off for the run immediately

1.3

Mpofu to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, nicely steered to third man, good length as well

1.4

Mpofu to Mohammad Ashraful, FOUR, turning into an expensive over for Bobby, tries for the cutter, too wide and slashed to the fence. Hammy was a bit slow getting to that

1.5

Mpofu to Mohammad Ashraful, FOUR, crunch! short from Bobby, Ash is on to it quickly, swivels around and pulls behind square, great timing, Bangladesh are off to a great start

1.6

Mpofu to Mohammad Ashraful, 1 run, better from Bobby, good length and directed at the stumps, nudged down to end a profitable over for Bangladesh

End of over 2 (15 runs) Bangladesh XI 25/0 (125 runs required from 18 overs, RR: 12.50, RRR: 6.94)
Mohammad Ashraful    19* (8b 4x4)      CB Mpofu    1-0-15-0
Tamim Iqbal    6* (4b 1x4)      P Utseya    1-0-10-0

2.1

Jarvis to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, full and straight to start and defended. He hasn't been too hot in the tournament so far, lets see what he can do now

2.2

Jarvis to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, improvisation costs Ash. Jarvis keeps it straight and Ash moves to the off-side and tries to flick over the 'keepers head, he makes no contact and is bowled.

Mohammad Ashraful b Jarvis 19 (9m 10b 4x4 0x6) SR: 190.00

2.3

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, 1 leg bye, straight from Jarvis again, cranking the pace up too and played off the hip down to the leg side

2.4

Jarvis to Tamim Iqbal, 2 wides, swing this time, although its down the leg side and that;s been wided.

2.4

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, no run, full and driven into the covers

2.5

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, no run, good carry, full and straight and left alone

2.6

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, no run, lovely from Jarvis - full, straight and driven into the covers, he's done some damage first up

End of over 3 (3 runs) Bangladesh XI 28/1 (122 runs required from 17 overs, RR: 9.33, RRR: 7.17)
Anamul Haque    0* (4b)      KM Jarvis    1-0-2-1
Tamim Iqbal    6* (4b 1x4)      CB Mpofu    1-0-15-0

Mpofu replaced by Muzhange

3.1

Muzhange to Tamim Iqbal, no run, backing up Jarvis well, full, straight and driven to the covers

3.2

Muzhange to Tamim Iqbal, 1 wide, not the best follow-up, down the leg-side where BT takes it diving

3.2

Muzhange to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, directed right up at the rib cage, Tamim is on his toes to play that on the leg side

3.3

Muzhange to Anamul Haque, no run, some movement there, swings away from the swish of Anamul Haque and well taken by BT again

3.4

Muzhange to Anamul Haque, 1 wide, just down leg again, needless really

3.4

Muzhange to Anamul Haque, 1 run, just veering on leg stump and flciked off the pads to mid-wicket where Ervine picks it up

3.5

Muzhange to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, big heave from Tamim and he almost gets the top edge down to third man, Jarvis runs in to try and take the catch but makes contact with his forearm instead and helps send it over for four

3.6

Muzhange to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, driven hard down the ground, Chigs cuts it off but it seemed destined for four

End of over 4 (9 runs) Bangladesh XI 37/1 (113 runs required from 16 overs, RR: 9.25, RRR: 7.06)
Tamim Iqbal    12* (8b 2x4)      R Muzhange    1-0-9-0

4.1

Jarvis to Tamim Iqbal, no run, full from Jarvis again and driven solidly but no run

4.2

Jarvis to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, slightly defter touch from Tamim now, flicks it away to square leg and there's enough time to run one

4.3

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, no run, yorker-length and has Jarvis dropped that? Its smacked back at him and he gets his hands up in time but it's too quick and he has to fend that off, that's a drop

4.4

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, FOUR, driven in the air, over the top of the cover fielders and there's enough on that to get to the boundary

4.5

Jarvis to Anamul Haque, 1 run, turned around off the toes to fine leg

4.6

Jarvis to Tamim Iqbal, OUT, oh dear! Tamim hits the hard into the covers and Stuart Matsikenyeri does very well to palm that ball to the ground and prevent four. He picks up quickly but the throw to BT is wide and he has to gather carefully. There's a two-second heard in mouth pause before he breaks the stumps and Tamim cannot get back in time. He seems pretty angry with himself as he walks off shaking his head.

Tamim Iqbal run out 13 (23m 11b 2x4 0x6) SR: 118.18

End of over 5 (6 runs) Bangladesh XI 43/1 (107 runs required from 15 overs, RR: 8.60, RRR: 7.13)

5.2

5.4

Mpofu to Anamul Haque, 1 run, flicked off the toes, in the air, to deep backward square. Cries of catch but it doesn't carry.

5.5

Mpofu to Mushfiqur Rahim, 1 run, too straight from Mpofu and its easily turned around to square leg

5.6

Mpofu to Anamul Haque, 2 runs, still straight, there's room on the leg side and the score keeps moving. Zimbabwe may want to think about how to apply more pressure. Bangladesh, if they keep their heads, are still ahead.

6.3

Cremer to Mushfiqur Rahim, 1 run, easy runs now, a third single

6.4

Cremer to Anamul Haque, no run, oooohhhh, doesn't pick that one. Anamul shaping up for the cut and doesn't see the google (yes, they call it google in Zimbabwe) and almost plays on

6.5

Cremer to Anamul Haque, OUT, goners. The slightest of bottom edges has feathered its way into BT's gloves, a good piece of keeping too. Anamul stands his ground but the finger is up.

17.3

Chigumbura to Mahmudullah, FOUR, All over! Short again and pulled, its the top-edge that seals the win. Over BT's head and four.

Post Match Presentation:

Brendan Taylor: We're just off the boil today. Lost too many wickets when we were batting. It was hard to come back from that. Coming in with good spinners like Bangladesh do have, its never going to be easy and the middle order didnt have the match time in the middle. We just missed everything, they deserved the win. They were more up for it than us. We really tried to gear ourselves up today but we knew they would bounce back. We've got some important cricket to play on Saturday.

Mushfiqur Rahim: We needed to focus on our process. The bowlers did a great job. We had belief that we could get wickets. In the last game we did well with the ball but, if we want to win we have to do well in three departments.

MOM Mashrafe Mortaza: It's a bit slow, Bangladesh is slower than here. I had to use my variations. For the last two games I've struggled with my areas but today I found it. I am the senior bowler, so I have to bowl well.

Bangladesh have kept themselves alive in this competition. It started with their good performance with the ball, where they pulled Zimbabwe back after a good start. Zimbabwe posted a below-par score and could not defend it. Perhaps still a bit stunned after beating South Africa yesterday. Bangladesh's batsmen recovered from early wobbles, Nasir Hossain had a great opportunity to show his potential and took it. That's it for today, we'll be back tomorrow for the fifth match between South Africa and Bangladesh. If you're in South Africa, keep warm. Cheers for now.
