Zimbabwe seamer Keegan Meth has suffered a laceration to the lower lip and lost four upper row teeth following a ghastly incident at the end of the Bangladesh innings in the final ODI in Bulawayo.

Meth, who bowled the final over of the Bangladesh innings, was hit in the mouth by Nasir Hossain's full-blooded straight shot off the last ball. He went down immediately in pain, and had to be stretchered off the field with a bloodied face. Meth played no further part in the game as Zimbabwe lost by 93 runs, conceding Bangladesh a second consolation win after having sealed the series with three straight victories.

Meth was treated by the doctor on call at the ground, before he had his lower lip sutured at a nearby hospital. He was able to join his team-mates during the chase and also took part in the celebrations following the series win. The extent of damage to his jaws and mouth can only be ascertained following the dentist's report and an X-ray examination.

"Due to the extent of the injury we had to rush him [Meth] to the hospital," the team physio Amato Machikicho said. "He will have to go for X-rays tomorrow to establish the nature of the dental injury. He will require some orthodentistry for the four teeth and any other possible injuries that might have ensued from the impact."

My very best wishes for Meth to come round the soonest.

This is purly reckless and IDIOTIC batting, I mean the batsman should atleast be fined or something. Bangladesh is lucky to be called a test nation because it has a very low level of standard and is only there so that the big teams can pound, crush, and defeat them. Even Zimbabwe is Humiliating Bangladesh with a series defeat, I just hope Meth is alright and wish that he gets well quickly enough for Pakistan.

First time I thought - its bad luck for Nasir - he couldn't get FOUR. But when I watched replay with front Camera -we felt very sorrow. This is an accident.. We, all Bangladeshi, are sorry for it. Wish to GOD for Meth's quick cure & quick return to Int. game. Meth you played good - GOD bless you....

it is really unfortunate. as a people of bd i am showing my consolidation to meth. hope he will recover soon and back to international cricket against pakistan and have a good performance. i am happy to see that meth showed his strong mind by presenting himself in presentation ceremony. he is also lucky that the accident did not happen like roman lamba who died almost for the same reason. l think icc should concern about bowler and main umpire safety.once again sorry to meth, mayalmighty allah bless him.

As a tiger fan, our deepest sympathy goes to Meth and his family. God willing he will recover soon and be back to play for Zim.. I feel bad for Nasir Hossain who has to continue to play cricket with a guilt in his mind..
