Zimbabwe go in to tea having removed the Bangladesh openers. The Zimbabwe new-ball bowlers, both debutants, have shown lots of promise and bowled largely with discipline. Vitori has consistently taken the ball away from the left-hander from close to off stump, Jarvis has bowled with lively pace and lift. Zimbabwe have a lot to hope for from this pairing in the future. Both the deliveries that got the wickets were good ones, but Bangladesh will do well to rein in their attacking instincts to rebuild after tea, especially Nafees who has already been dropped once.

Tim: "@Stromeon, I tend to agree Utseya should be in the team but I'd bring him in for Mpofu. Zimbabwe's strength is their spin and Chigumbura can do the job of 3rd seamer. Utseya also has the advantage of being a useful lower order batsman, an asset that would have been handy today."

Stromeon: "What has happened to Prosper Utseya? I thought he was the captain of the one day team quite recently and he seemed to do OK in the World Cup - He would do a similar job to Ray Price as a holding spinner role, and he is 9 years younger than Price so has more to offer for the future."

Absorbing day of Test cricket. Bangladesh came back strongly in the morning and Zimbabwe caved in. Vitori took out the openers on debut, but he did not make that much of an impression against the right-handers. Ashraful and Nafees had a steadying stand going but Nafees' dismissal has left Bangladesh with lot of work to do, and Zimbabwe stay ahead in this game for the moment. This is Abhishek Purohit signing off for the day, do check out Firdose Moonda's match report which captures today's action. See you tomorrow morning at 10 am local time (2 pm Bangladesh time). Cheers

It is going dark, and umpire Dharmasena brings out the light meter. He thinks is is too dark to allow the remaining over to be bowled and off go the players.

End of over 46 (3 runs) Bangladesh 107/3

Mahmudullah    4* (13b)      BV Vitori    11-3-29-2

Zimbabwe are done with their huddle and we are all set for the start of play. Ashraful looks pretty relaxed in the middle, he even manages a smile. Three slips and a gully for Vitori

9.50 am Welcome to our coverage of the third day's play of the one-off Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Bangladesh did well with the ball yesterday, and had begun to repair their innings after the early departure of the openers when they lost Shahriar Nafees late in the day. But they still have a very uncharacteristic Mohammad Ashraful, who left a zillion deliveries outside the off stump yesterday, and looked very determined

Kepler Wessels says on air that the pitch has not deteriorated much apart from a few areas, he thinks it will remain good for batting today and tomorrow and will take turn on the fifth day.

48.3

49.5

Jarvis to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, that is a good shout, that is very close, that came out of nowhere, it seemed headed down leg from just short of a length, and then straightened very sharply to strike Ashraful on the back pad, he wasn't forward as well, that struck him around middle, not given, that looked gone, did not seem to be an inside edge

49.6

Jarvis to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, get it to bounce now from short of a length, Ashraful goes on his toes to block
