Shamsur, Razzak added to Bangladesh ODI squad

13

Abdur Razzak and Shamsur Rahman have been added to the Bangladesh ODI squad for the three-match series against Zimbabwe that begins on May 3. They will also be in the squad for the two Twenty20s which take place just after the ODI series.

Shamsur is a right-handed top-order batsman who made his Twenty20 debut against Sri Lanka last month. He was adjudged leg-before, falling for a first-ball duck, though the decision looked dubious at the time. He scored heavily in this year's Bangladesh Premier League, making 421 runs in 12 matches. He also had a decent first-class season, averaging a shade below 36 and scoring one century. He is yet to make an ODI debut.

Razzak has been a regular in the limited-overs squad, recently completing 200 ODI wickets. In his last ODI appearance, he took a five-for against Sri Lanka.

ESPNcricinfo has learned that a total of three players will be returning to Dhaka after the second Test. Shahriar Nafees and Enamul Haque jnr are so far the only two confirmed while the third player will be decided later.

Tamim,Ash,Momi, Shakib,Rahim, Nasir, Mahmudullah, Zia, Gazi, Razzak and Robiul.

I feel Ashraful is a great batsman and he will show his class in the upcoming ODI series. And also Robiul reserves a chance to play in the ODIs. Ash and tamim should open the innings.

Usually Bangladesh ODI team becomes strong with the addition of Mortaza and Razzak. People don't realize this but these two bring so much experience and consistency into the team. Mortaza will be missed.

Bulowayo wicket is similar to Bangladesh and past record shows Bangladesh most of the time winning here. I think Ash should bat at 2 so we can continue using Mominul and bring back Mahmudullah who plays generally well in that form. Tamim,Ash,Momi, Shakib,Rahim, Nasir, Mahmudullah, Zia, Gazi, Razzak and Robiul.

Mahmudullah should be back at the ODI squad.....he is experienced and capable cricketer in the bangladesh team speciallly in the ODI format....!!

I hope that we play to our potential and not the way we did in the first test. Having said that, can someone please explain why Razzak is not considered for test assignments?

Shamsu mia is a good prospect for Bd and hence should get chance to partner with tamim in short format so that he can develop/improve .

The young pacer Taskin Ahmed can be given an opportunity to play in the T20 internationals if not the ODI's based on his recent performance at BPL

This is Bangladesh's best format, can't see Zimbabwe even winning a game especially in Bulawayo where Bangladesh have a fantastic record in. A 3-0 win by Bangladesh will take them above New Zealand.

Shamsur can get a taste of seaming conditions but inshallah wont fail. Also expect a 3-2 win to Bangladesh.

Shamsur Rahman deserved this but I doubt he will get any match :(. Ashraful is not good for ODI format. He waste too many ball in ODI nowadays and after that if he fail to play a big innings that really hurts the team

  • Energetic. on April 25, 2013, 12:33 GMT

Bangladesh's favourite format. We won the last 2 matches played at Bulawayo. My ODI 11 - Tamim, Shamsur, Ash, Shakib, Nasir, Rahim, Mominul, Zia/Gazi, Razzak, Robiul, Shafiul/Sajidul.
