Seamer Shafiul Islam and allrounder Ziaur Rahman have been called up to the Bangladesh Test squad, as cover for pacers Rubel Hossain and Shahadat Hossain. Shafiul and Ziaur will fly to Harare on Sunday night.

Rubel, who had back trouble during the tour to Sri Lanka earlier this year, hurt his shoulder during the first Test here, while Shahadat had missed the Test due to a knee injury. They do not have much time to regain full fitness, with the second Test beginning on Thursday, thus prompting the team to call for back-up.

Bangladesh's other injury concern is opener Tamim Iqbal, who also missed the first Test. However, his thumb injury is coming on well and indications are he should be fit in time for the second game. On Saturday, captain Mushfiqur Rahim said: "He is doing really well."

Ziaur had featured in the limited-overs leg on Bangladesh's tour to Sri Lanka, but is yet to debut in Test cricket. Shafiul last played in the home series against West Indies, in December last year. He had made a comeback in that series, following a long injury layoff to recover from a shoulder injury that he picked up while fielding in the Asia Cup in March 2012.

Bangladesh lost the first Test by a whopping 335-run margin, within four days, and will have to win the second match to squad the series.

Tamim,Jaharul,Ashraful,Shakib,Nasir,Mushfiq,Mominul,Zia,Gazi,Sajidul,Robiul. Should be the playing IX. 3Pacers ( Shaj,Robiul,Zia) 3Spinners (Shakib,Gazi,Mominul) and nasir can be used according to the situation as he can bowl both spin and pace. Zia,Gazi and Sajidul also has experience with batting. So it's a good batting lineup aswell. Hope BD wins the toss and chooses to bat first.

I think problem with BD cricket is that they do not have quality players. Ok they don't have to be on the same level as Amla, AB, Sanga, Clarke, Peterson, Steyn, Philander, Ajmal, Swan etc etc (these are exceptional players and do not come in large numbers), however they are not even producing decent players with good temperament. I am not entirely sure how many BD players will even make the starting line up of top first class domestic competitions. I have even watched IND and PAK first class matches(most of them are rather boring) and although they are not as good as they use to be, but trust me their players are far better than majority of BD first eleven.

Why should be Shakib rested for the ODI series? Why did he play in BPL with the injury? He should be mentally fit 90-100% whenever he plays for the country, because it's his prime duty. Just look at how Sangakara played against us in Srilanka. It was the performance of very strong determination, a very high level of patience and overall super show of 100% professionalism. Anyways, our team did well in Srilanka and hopefully they would do better in the 2nd test. It's all about self belief. My request to our team to forget the Srilanka tour and just think about the current tour. Have fun and have funny discussions, and fix individual targets.

sakib could have been rested for upcoming odi series as we have seen him that he looked mentally unfit for test.In his place the best choice was Marsal ayub as he was the part of Sl tour.Three changes are coming for sure...one is tamim is coming instead of nafees, mominul for raid and sajedul for rubel.also zia may be included instead of enamul......

Shafiul is a much better bowler than Rubel in the ODIs and T20s but I'm afraid he is almost as bad in the Tests. Hopefully he will improve his figures in this test. Nafees looked solid and so did Ashraful against fast bowling but Jahurul, Mushfiq, Mahmudullah, and Shakib didn't look comfortable. Enamul Jr could be replaced by a fast bowler or Zia. Nasir looked impressive with the ball so Zia will be interesting. Also a left handed swing bowler may be interesting against Taylor. Come up with a good game plan guys. Losing one match is ok. I know you can bounce back.

Sorry to say to the Bangladeshi fans, but Shahadat Hossain have no class to be an International Player; if he would been in India, he would have really struggled hard enough to even stay in first class arena. BCB should even think making his comeback every now and then, else they should play spinners instead of him.

BCB is continuously failing to manage fitness and injuries of the players which caused heavily in the SL and now in Zim tour, failed to give proper physio, trainer and fielding coach & supporting stuffs! why do BCB criticize the players for the failure, rather they should only criticize themselves for not taking the right strategy, planning, effort, activities to go for right direction of BD cricket! Very pathetically alll efforts of BCB now, are to organize the picnic cricket like BPL! But BCB failed to build a single sporting/bouncy pitch so far, failed to organize adequate longer version and 1st class matches & tournaments and the complete absence of pacer hunt activities & training! Shame on BCB!

What we need is a new selection committee, Akram & Co is getting dumb day by day. How come Ziaur rahamn is a test bowler? He has no venom to be in the pace attack for a test team. There are at least 5 more pacers who should be tried ahead of Zia like Talha, Robin, Sharif, Taskin, Abu Jayed etc....

Agree with Mashiul Alam about Nafees & Mahmudullah & both of them R out of form too. Team should give a chance to fresh legs rather then selecting them with such off form again in the 2nd test too.

Shafiul is out of the team for a long time & as we can see with Shakib that can cause lack of performance too. Ziaur seems to be a T-20 specialist for us so should not be over measured by any means for 2nd test.

Wish someone could tell our boys try to play controlled innings in 2nd test match without taking any risk or rush stroke, especially to Ash's ear! Though can't expect much of a difference of the 2nd test's result but if boy's plays test match with test mentality then atleast we would have mentally satisfied to see that.
