India in Zimbabwe T20I Series - 1st T20I

Zimbabwe v India

India won by 6 wickets (with 30 balls remaining)

Masakadza takes guard. Yet another change for India - Vinay Kumar is in, Pankaj is out. Any more changes, guys? Let's get on with it. Two slips in place, Vinay has the ball.

Toss Raina has won the toss and India will bowl. India are playing three spinners and two seamers. Chigumbura couldn't quite remember the composition of his team. We'll have the teams up shortly.

For Zimbabwe, Rainsford and Chibhabha are in. Coventry and Cremer are out. India have included Chawla.

Some confusion about the Indian team. The team sheet now says that Vijay is playing and Karthik has been left out. Naman Ojha will keep wicket.

The FIFA World Cup continues today with the first game between South Korea and Greece. You can follow all the action and well as news, features and comment on ESPN Soccernet.

12.20pm: Good day everybody and welcome to the coverage of the first Twenty20 between Zimbabwe and India.... just in case you thought India packed their bags and headed for the departure terminal after the tri-series.

This has to be one of the most low profile Indian tours in a very long time. It's quite unusual to be saying that Zimbabwe start as favourites. It's good for cricket as a whole to see Zimbabwe improve, let's see if India can make a fresh start here. The toss is set to get underway any moment.

Still waiting for the toss. In the meantime, you can read the preview for this match. On Thursday, India played a warm-up match against the Zimbabwe High Performance Centre and won by a narrow six runs. Not entirely convincing, as you can see. Unfortunately, I don't think we have a scorecard for that.

So Zimbabwe will look back at this innings with regret after messing up the solid start. The Indian spinners did well to tie them down, take a look at their economy rates. Ojha's 2 for 11 in four overs is the most economical for India in Twenty20 internationals. India should chase this down. Join us shortly.

Davo: "India needs to stop immitating Australia, South Africa, and England. Pacers and seamers have never been our strength. Our strength is SPIN (no matter what form of cricket or what type of pitch it is). We should be picking 3 spinners more regularly and never less than 2."

Dev: "If people are trying to determine which spinner should be India's first choice for Twenty20 games, look no further than Pragyan Ojha. He has a excellent strike-rate in comparison to Harbhajan Singh, who should be dropped, as his strike-rate is a massive 30! Harbhajan's economy is slightly better but not significantly enough to justify his lack of wickets."
