Pakistan in Zimbabwe ODI Series - 3rd ODI

Zimbabwe v Pakistan

Pakistan won by 108 runs

Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad to open for Pakistan. Tinashe Panyangara to bowl first

Zimbabwe have won the toss and will have a bowl

musa ndlovu: "Zimbabwe must use two spinners"

Arslan Ali: "What a seen when a Pakistani Sikandar Raza will face their Parent Country team's balling attack... Will he give tough time to his parent country team..Let See ...

gokul: "i remember former indian president Dr.apj abdul kalam comments "dont take rest after ur first victory bcos if u fail in second more lips are waiting to say that ur first victory was just luck"..come on zim ..won the game as well as series"

Rehan Saleem: "Zimbabwe must have to win & perform, because this series win will certainly help in resolving their internal cricket crises. I suggest winning probability 55-45 in favour of Pakistan. The cricket fans would also like to see Zimbabwe as top ranked cricketing nation, & this series win may be the first step towards it. We expect nail biting finish today."

Arslan Ali: "Zimbabwe have ability to overcome on Pakistani teams and they can disappoint any team in any occasion.... But Pakistan have outstanding bowling attack.... So I will be a great match and both time will give tough time to each other........"

manoj.s: "I am the biggest die hard fan for zimbabwe team since my 10 years old... Each and every match i prayed for my zimbabwe team... then i am biggest fan of brendan taylor, raymond price ant taibu.. i miss so much.. Anyway this is great chance for winning the series.. delete the old bad records and create the new history... my idea is win the toss and chose to bat get more than 240 then zimbabwe will surely win his match... All the best zimbabwe team.. lets go it is time to show who we are..

Shams: "Zimbabwe's top three hold the key. Middle order is very brittle. This is Pakistan's game."

Pakistan go into the contest unchanged from the previous match. Two changes to the Zimbabwe side: Shingi Masakadza comes in for Brian Vitori and Sikandar Raza comes in for Timycen Maruma.

Taylor saying he wants to enjoy today's game, free up their mind, and concentrate on winning, as opposed to looking too far ahead. Misbah also wants to focus on the basics, with a view to maximising at the end. Zimbabwe have no pressure, according to the Pakistan captain, and that the onus is on Pakistan to come out of this with a win. Shehzad not maximising his T20 form. Misbah hopeful the batsmen put up a collective effort

Ashar: "No way dude.... despite zimbabwe playing well in the first one day.... i regard this win as a fluke...99.99% win for pakistan.."

Fatir: "Toss can be crucial in this final. Zimbabwe shouldn't make the mistake they made two days ago by letting Pakistan bat first. We all know how visitors crumble when it comes to chasing. Zimbabwe should look to bat first and if they can get to somewhere around 240, then we have a cracking game on our hands."

We will have news on the toss in just under 10 minutes time. In the meantime, here's a question for all of you out there: Do you see Zimbabwe winning today and sealing the series 2-1 in their favour? Weigh in with your responses!

Panyangara changes ends

42.1

Panyangara to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, length delivery on off, Misbah-ul-Haq comes forward to drive, edges it onto his body and the ball rolls away to the off side

Misbah struggling here as he goes down after that painful inside edge on to his groin area. Zimbabwe will be feeling they have some deja vu (Hafeez and his hamstring earlier in the day)

Chatara to Misbah-ul-Haq, FOUR, full delivery wide of off stump. Misbah, with the intent of hitting over cover, ends up hitting his behind square and over gully for a much-needed boundary

Hamid Ali: "I'm a huge supporter of Misbah's methodical approach with such a frail batting lineup, but it just doesn't works at times. With bowlers like that of Zimbabwe, such a high number of dot ball percentage just provides another opportunity of Misbah bashers. He really needs to learn to rotate the strike and accelerate when needed. More or less like Hussey. That's what a holding middle order batsman does."

43.2

Chatara to Misbah-ul-Haq, FOUR, short of a length and width offered. Misbah gets into position quickly to cut this away in the gap between gully and point for a four

43.3

43.5

Chatara to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, short of a length outside off and Misbah pulls this square on the leg side with a lofted shot as Malcolm Waller bailed on an opportunity to go for the catch, opting instead to save the extra runs. Could be costly for Zimbabwe as Misbah is dangerous at the back-end of an innings

43.6

Chatara to Shahid Afridi, OUT, short of a length outside off and without moving his feet Afridi has a waft at it and ends up getting a thick edge on the way to the keeper. This could hurt Pakistan's chances of a competitive total, while Zimbabwe will like their chances even more

45.6

SW Masakadza to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, fuller delivery on the pads and Misbah squirts this square on the off side for a single and retains the strike

Hunbbel Meer: "I think the problem is not Misbah. It's his influence on others. We do need 1 batsman who holds the innings together. The problem comes when everybody is trying to do a Misbah-esque innings. Look at Ahmed Shehzad and Nasir Jamshed. They both are super-attacking batsmen. Now they hardly play over 80+ strike rate. The trick is to let everyone play aggressively, and in case they fail, Misbah comes to rescue. Now-a-days, everybody is trying to rescue a ship that never even takes off!"

SW Masakadza to Sarfraz Ahmed, 1 run, length ball on the off stump and Ahmed squeezes this behind square on the off side

47.2

SW Masakadza to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, slower ball on middle and leg. Misbah fails to connect as he makes room to work it away through the off side. Ahmed makes a dash in anticipation but then sees the bowler pick up the ball to throw down the non-striker's end. Ahmed, who looks as though he is getting in the way of the throw, is able to get in on time. The Zimbabweans go up to appeal the decision, as it looks as though Ahmed was getting in the way, but the umpires finally decree that it is still not out. Interesting one there as it looked blatant.

48.3

Fielder, running in from deep midwicket, is unable to hold on to the chance. Close call from the Pakistan captain

48.4

49.4

SW Masakadza to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, it is not often you get a second straight chance at redemption. This time Misbah, who had crossed with Hafeez the previous ball, hits it straight in the same area, except this one is higher than flatter. Raza settles in under it, and completes the catch

49.5

SW Masakadza to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 wide, full toss going down the leg side and, even though Hafeez goes after it, still too wide for him to connect. Shingi needs to keep it together here

49.5

SW Masakadza to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, slower ball wide of off stump and Hafeez waits patiently before cutting in front of square. That was definitely a 'ok will lose the pace and get it in the right place' kind of delivery that was begging to be slammed out of the ground

49.6

SW Masakadza to Mohammad Hafeez, 2 runs, full delivery on middle and leg. Hafeez tucks this away through midwicket, and is able to scamper home for the second run

And there you have it, after a rather non-descript start (the openers put on 66 in 16 overs), Misbah, Jamshed and Ahmed played key roles in getting Pakistan to 260 for 6. This is a rather good effort, considering they were expected to fall under the target at the halfway point. There was some sloppy fielding from Zimbabwe, and a few catches were put down. Tendai Chatara was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 48. Do join us again in just over 30 minutes time for action from Zimbabwe's innings, as they look to achieve something that has been a long time coming. Pakistan, on the other hand, will hope their bowlers can do the job and restrict Zimbabwe to a score under their total. That is all from me today. Alagappan will begin proceedings in the second innings.
