Tatenda Taibu has denied that he has told anyone that he has turned his back on Zimbabwe cricket and is looking to make his future in South Africa. Taibu, who is in Zimbabwe after summer playing club cricket in England, said that such stories were "all rubbish."

"I have not spoken to any journalist either in England at the little town where I was based or since my arrival in Harare," he told the Sunday Mail. "I don't know where that information came from. I actually got to learn of that incorrect report when someone brought it to my attention soon after my arrival here.

"I would love to play for Zimbabwe again but at this moment the situation does not permit. In the meantime I must continue to provide a meal on the table for my family and I can only do so by playing abroad."

However, Cricinfo spoke to the journalist who chatted with Taibu during one of his appearances for Lashings and he stood by the comments attributed to Taibu in The Times last week and maintained that they were accurate.
