Kenyon Ziehl, Zimbabwe Cricket's convenor of selectors, said the upcoming Zimbabwe A tour to South Africa next month is an ideal opportunity for fringe players to be exposed to the longer version of the game.

Zimbabwe's selectors are set to pick two squads at the beginning of July. A Zimbabwe Select, will remain at home to play the West Indies A, while an A side will travel to South Africa for two first-class and two one-day matches against the Standard Bank and Highveld Lions Academies. All matches are set to be played at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria - the same venue as last winter's ICC training camp.

"It's important that we pick a different set of players for the South Africa tour, we need to expose our fringe players to more longer-version matches after the Logan Cup," Ziehl said. "Last year, the A side were promised tours, and those are materialising now and the experience will be invaluable.

"The competition will be very hard for them, the South African players are very good and they will no doubt rise to the occasion. It will be a good learning process for our players."
