Matabeleland Tuskers 406 for 9 (Shafayat 114, Williams 87, Querl 58*) beat Mid West Rhinos 179 (Trenchard 66, Querl 5-33, Ncube 5-67) and 123 (Nyumbu 4-15) by an innings and 104 runs
A century from Bilal Shafayat, a knock of 87 from Sean Williams, and a combined effort by bowlers helped Matabeleland Tuskers clinch an innings-and-104-run victory over Mid West Rhinos in Bulawayo. Seamers Njabulo Ncube and Glen Querl, with five wickets each, bowled Rhinos out for 179 after Tuskers had scored 406, and forced them to follow on. Rhinos performed worse in their second innings, with offspinner John Nyumbu and seamer Bradley Staddon doing most of the damage this time, sharing seven wickets between them.
After being put in to bat, the Tuskers were in a strong position with a 126-run stand between Keith Dabengwa and Shafayat, an 83-run stand between Shafayat and Williams and a 78-run stand for the sixth wicket between Williams and Glen Querl, who scored an unbeaten 58.
Querl followed this up with spell of 5 for 33 in 18.2 overs, as he and Ncube ran through their opponents' line-up. Only No. 4 Steven Trenchard put up a resistance, scoring 66. Rhinos stuttered in their second innings as well, and folded for 123 on the fourth day.
With the win, the Tuskers have consolidated their position at the top of the points table.
