Two of Bangladesh's most experienced players, Javed Omar and Khaled Mashud, have missed out on new contracts. Their existing six-month contract ended on May 30. Rajin Saleh, Enamul Haque jnr and Nazmul Hossain also haven't been handed fresh contracts.
Meanwhile, the six-month contracts of Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Farhad Reza and Mehrab Hossain jnr have been extended till November 30. The Bangladesh board (BCB) also contracted Nazimuddin, Raqibul Hasan, Dhiman Ghosh, Mosharraf Hossain and Sajidul Islam in the 'Rookie Grade'.
Mashud, Bangladesh's most-capped player with 170 appearances in all formats, last played in the first of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka in June in 2007. Omar and Saleh too haven't featured for Bangladesh in nearly a year: Omar was dropped for the home series against South Africa with the selectors opting for younger opening batsmen.
In December 2007, the Bangladesh board reduced the duration of the contract from one year to six months for Mohammad Rafique - now retired - Mashud, Omar, Nafees and Saleh.
