After a shaky start against a young squad from Argentine, defending Champions Canada crushed their opponents in the first game of the Americas region U19 World Cup Qualifying Tournament

Game # 1
Canada v Argentina
After a shaky start against a young squad from Argentine, defending Champions Canada crushed their opponents in the first game of the Americas region U19 World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Canada won the toss and elected to bat on a perfect pitch but an early run out clearly upset the home squad and Argentine looked in command with the score at 39/3. Two partnerships, a 4th wicket stand of 69 runs between Muhammad Qazi (60) and Jonathan Roberts (21) and the 8th wicket stand between Soham Anjaria (88*) and Durand Soraine (48) of 93 runs enabled Canada to reach the massive total of 347/8 in 50 overs. The best bowler for Argentina was Juan Del Valle who captured 4/59 in nine overs. Canada's opening bowlers quickly took control of the game as their experience and speed proved too much for the young squad to handle and the result was a one sided victory for the Canadians. Skipper, Umar Bhatti took 6/10 and his partner Simon Upton captured 4/15 as Argentine collapsed for a mere 25 runs.
Canada 347/8 (50 overs) Soham Anjaria 88*, Muhammed Qazi 60, Durand Soraine 48, Shaheed Keshvani 46*, Juan Del Valle 4/59.

Game # 2
Cayman Islands v USA
These two teams made up for the one sided game between Canada and Argentine by putting on a thrilling contest that went to the last over and the last wicket. Cayman Islands won the toss and elected to field. The USA lost wickets in the early going but a fine innings by opener Birju Gajjar (33) helped them along until the number seven batsman Komal Singh (44) and the number nine batsman Zaka Khan (23*) came to the rescue. They were all out in the last over for a respectable total of 182. Top bowler for the Cayman Islands was Omar Bryan 3/31.
After losing an early wicket Cayman Islands settled in with a second wicket partnership of 86 between Gregory Ebanks (33) and Jalon Linton (37). When this partnership was broken the USA took control and wickets began to tumble as the score crawled closer to the target. It was up to Omar Bryan to swing the game back to the Islanders with an unbeaten knock of 28*. However it was his last partner Marlon Bryan, who he had carefully shielded for several overs ,that won the game for Caymans with a boundary on the fourth delivery of the last over. It was an exciting finish to a game that saw the advantage switch many times during the day.
For his efforts Omar Bryan was awarded Man of the Match.
