Dawid Botha will play in his second Under-19 World Cup when he travels to Malaysia as captain of his national team. In the 2006 tournament he topped his team's batting averages, scoring three half-centuries including a match-winning 55 in the win against Scotland, and having few problems with India's young legspinner Piyush Chawla. He broke into the senior side for the 2007 Intercontinental Cup and although he had a run of low scores opening the batting, he is still believed to be a bright prospect. He scored 158 runs in six innings at the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 and made runs once again for the Under-19s in the World Cup qualifiers in Benoni.
