He was a 'bits and pieces' player who became the unexpected hero of Italy's even more unexpected victory over Argentina in Buenos Aires in February 1995 when, brought on as sixth bowler, he wrecked the home side middle order by taking 4-42. He bowls off-spin and is a sound defensive batsman.
