Yuzhou Lin was born in China, and arrived in Melbourne, Australia aged 12 in 1993 with his mother. He then attended high school at Mt Waverley Secondary College, and then graduated from Monash University in Information Management and Systems in 2003. He then worked for two years as a sessional academic.

He developed a keen interest and passion for cricket in Australia, having played club cricket for the Donvale Cricket Club at Melbourne. He worked on his batting at the Melbourne Cricket Centre under Steve Maddocks.

He worked at the ICC East Asia Pacific regional office based in Cricket Australia first on a voluntary capacity from late 2004, and then on a 6-month part time contract from September 2005. In March the following year he was promoted to full time employment with the office.

Since 2005, Yuzhou has been working closely with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Cricket Australia on the development of cricket in China. He helped to translate all the course materials and preparing additional coaching presentations into Chinese mandarin prior to each course. He was also one of the coaching panel members throughout those courses.

In September 2006, Yuzhou said goodbye to his beloved ICC East Asia Pacific regional office in Melbourne and relocated to China on an Asian Cricket Council contract to work in the role as the assistant national coach for the Chinese national cricket programs. He now holds a Level 2 Cricket Australia coaching accreditation.
