Tom Kohler-Cadmore blitzes 165* on shortened day as Yorkshire take charge
Opener takes advantage against depleted Warwickshire attack as debutant Tom Loten also shines

Yorkshire 261 for 2 (Kohler-Cadmore 165*, Loten 58) v Warwickshire
Tom Kohler-Cadmore thrashed a 113-ball hundred to celebrate his 100th first-class innings as Yorkshire plundered a depleted Warwickshire attack on a truncated opening day of their Specsavers County Championship match at Edgbaston.
In two sessions before rain wiped out play after tea, Kohler-Cadmore struck an unbeaten 165 from 175 balls, with 26 fours and one six, out of his side's excellent foundation of 261 for 2. A few days after England's director of men's cricket, Ashley Giles, confirmed he was once again available for consideration, Kohler-Cadmore reached the close 10 runs shy of his first-class career best.
He added 184 for the second wicket with debutant Tom Loten, a 20-year-old from York, who showed an excellent temperament in making 58 for a maiden half-century in his first first-class innings. Together the pair ensured that Yorkshire emphatically bounced back from their record defeat, by 433 runs to Kent at Headingley last week.
On a good batting pitch, offering nothing to the seamers and only the slowest of turn to the spinners, it was a good toss for the White Rose to win and Kohler-Cadmore was soon taking advantage, clubbing the ball through the off-side as he charged to 50 from 49 balls. He and Adam Lyth added 77 in 17.4 overs for the first wicket before Lyth edged Craig Miles, recalled to the team in place of the injured George Garrett, to second slip where Sam Hain took a sharp catch.
Loten survived some uncertain early moments and a couple of loud appeals against spinner Jeetan Patel but settled impressively to play with patience and composure. He reached his half-century from 142 balls, content to take the minor role while the more assertive Kohler-Cadmore moved to his ninth first-class century with 13 fours and a six.
Loten finally fell to the last ball before tea when he edged offspinner Alex Thomson low to Will Rhodes at slip. Yorkshire were denied an opportunity to build further in the final session when rain set in during the tea interval.
