it was surprising to me that even the board members were silent before all these things happened ? what were SMG and RShastri doing all these days ? Just praising Modi ?? Or a part of it ?
Hi.. I kinda wrote a solution for this much in advance.. here my link..
http://anikatadka.blogspot.com/2010/03/ideal-cricket-administration.html
damage has been done... mopping up left
Sanjay hit the nail on the head when he says, "Sometimes I feel, because something has been successful people get a bit too much credit for that". Modi did not invent the franchisee system.. Subash Chandra did through ICL.. Modi didn't put his own money in IPL.. Subash Chandra did in ICL... The way ICL tried to fight all odds (courtesy BCCI) and get their league going is to be much appreciated.. Does cricket need a marketing strategy especially in India..? I bet not.. It sells on its own..Too much credit has been showered on Modi for his entrepreneurship, flamboyance & execution. As harsha said, if he is a man in enormous hurry, can't wait to see him reach the exit door..Not because I think he is guilty to the charges (the charges have not yet been proved) but because cricket can do without a person who believes he is above the system..
Pretty fair honest realistic and most importantly balanced discussion about the "IplGate". Was a bit disappointed though from Gideon who was just reading out his lines from his last column. As Sanjay rightly said the time has come for Indian fan to reconsider his unconditional love for the sport and become a bit more demanding. This is because the quality of the cricket broadcast of ipl is getting from bad to worse. This year started having 2 commercials betn deliveries and even the presence of harsha n mike mike haysman couldn't stop the commentry became an absolute disaster with every1 pointing to ballon in sky and praising a tyre company for "its contribution for world cricket". i think d biggest test for ipl will be the next edition of the tournament . It will follow a seven week 50 over wc to be played in sub-continent and will have 94 games. It will really test the appetite of indian fan for the game. Lastly please bring Boria Majumdar to time out. Waiting to listen harsha n him
Sanjay Manjrekar says 'I think the people are not disillusioned, for the simple fact that they think the game, the contest is still quite pure.'
There are match fixing and spot fixing allegations are out there to prove, so how could people think the contest is quite PURE??? You think you are trying to save CRICKET…good job…
Harsha Bhogle: Yes, if we are onto good thing then why stop it???
Yes you are right Harsha…like an old saying when your son is feeding you 3 times a day why to bother whether he is innocent or robbing somebody to feed you as long as your stomach is not empty. You are right Mr. Harsha.
Gideon Haigh: I forecasted that there would be a major corruption scandal within five years???
Wow… you got Déjà vu powers it seems….you know the future…I think you better become a Swamiji in India…you can earn lot of money with your powers…why wasting time here buddy… Sanjay seems right about people sitting in England, Australia…hope you heard what he had to say…
Other than Ayaz constantly throwing out unnecessary facts about India's immense global status, its immense cricketing status, its immense Godliness and what not, it was overall a pretty interesting discussion. What I was terribly disappointed was the fact that, in a discussion centered a lot over "allegations", none of you even brought up match-fixing and whether these conflicts of interest could actually have lead to match-fixing without actually involving the players themselves. As usual, Harsha absolutely nailed it when he said the IPL is slowly turning into an enterprise we Indians absolutely fall in love with, in direct contrast with the rest of the world. It is wrong, and people like Ayaz do not help the cause with their "I might be in the wrong, but you outsider has no right to point it out". Shutting ourselves up from the Gideon Haigh's of the world would be completely fooling ourselves into rivelling in filth. And we are already doing enough of that. Get Ian Chappel next time.
