All-round Shakib stars in Rupganj win

A round-up of the Dhaka Premier Division matches played on December 10, 2014

Dense fog curtailed the Legends of Rupganj-Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club match to 31 overs a side, and the shortened game was to prove full of drama.
Rupganj ultimately won by 28 runs, which not only ended their four-match losing streak but would have also come as a pleasant distraction after the turmoil their club faced the night before, when their owner was banned from entering cricket stadiums for life, and their joint secretary and team manager banned for five and three years respectively,
Batting first after a 150-minute delay, Rupganj made 211 in 30.1 overs. In his first appearance in domestic cricket this season, Tamim Iqbal made 45 off 48 balls. Ashar Zaidi struck six fours in his 41-ball 47 and later Alok Kapali (23), Shakib Al Hasan (30) and Nazmul Hossain Milon (35) pushed the total past the 200-run mark.
Doleshwar fought hard but were struck down towards the end by Shakib's accuracy. He took four wickets, striking just when Dawid Malan and Mushfiqur Rahim were threatening to pull off the chase. Their challenge ended at 183 in 30 overs.
Fog was also a problem at the BKSP-3 ground, where Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Partex Sporting Club by seven wickets in a 36-overs-a-side encounter.
Rajin Saleh's 87-ball 82 contained eight fours and three sixes, and put Partex on course for a big score after they batted first. But Alauddin Babu's four-wicket haul and three late wickets from Mashrafe Mortaza restricted them to 175 for eight. Mohammedan reached the target in 33 overs with half-centuries from openers Ezaz Ahmed and Tanveer Haider.
Sohag Gazi's second five-wicket haul helped Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club cruise past Old DOHS Sports Club by six wickets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. Gazi took five for 27 from nine overs, in a match reduced to 45 overs a side.
Batting first, Old DOHS made 155 for nine with Joyraz Sheik making 61 off 94 balls. Dhanmondi Club reached their target in 42.2 overs with Maisuqur Rahman scoring 83 off 118 balls with 11 fours and a six. Arafat Sunny chipped in with an unbeaten 44 off 78 balls.
