Seam bowler Jonathan Marsden shares with Peter Moores, the Lancashire and former England coach, the honour of having been cricket captain at the King's School in Macclesfield, where he was also captain of rugby. His coach at King's was Steve Moores, Peter's brother, who described him as 'genuinely quick'. Although born in Kent, Marsden was raised in Buxton and has been with Derbyshire since he was 15, graduating through their Academy to the Second XI, taking 30 wickets in 22 matches over the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
