104.1 to HDRL Thirimanne, gone, is it? Given, and Thirimanne is walking off. Not the greatest delivery, but Taskin probably deserves a bit of luck going his way. Shortish and down the leg side. Looks to tuck it off his hip, and ends up sending a little feather to the keeper. 313/2
108.1 to AD Mathews, gone, Taskin strikes again! That non-appeal doesn't turn out so costly after all. Length ball in the channel, and it straightens off the deck again. Mathews probably didn't have to play at this, presses forward and pushes out away from his body with hard hands, and Liton dives full-length to his right to grab onto the thick edge, taking it in front of first slip. 319/3
135.4 to P Nissanka, bowled him, that's a ripper from Taskin! Pitches on a similar spot to the previous ball, and then it nips in a long way off the seam and sneaks between the bat-pad gap to knock back off stump. Nissanka was stuck on the crease, hopping across and too taken by surprise by the movement to offer a coherent response other than trying desperately to jam his bat down onto the ball. The ball did keep low too, so there wasn't too much Nissanka could do. 382/5
159.2 to RTM Mendis, in his haste to get runs, Mendis has perished. Spotted a short ball about belly high from Taskin and lays into a big pull shot, attempting to clear the deep square leg fielder over his head. Doesn't quite get a good enough connection, however, and the fielder there does nicely to keep his eye on the ball, and get his hands behind it. And oh, it's not just the end of Mendis' innings. Sri Lanka have declared!. 493/7
36711813.2715914100
136.2 to BOP Fernando, got him, that's brilliant anticipation from Liton! Flighted ball outside off, and as soon as he saw Oshada shape to sweep, Liton began moving to his left. Doesn't really get hold of the shot, there's some extra bounce, and he ends up gloving into his thigh pad pad, and the ball lobs up for a simple catch to the alert keeper. Superb work. 382/6
2969113.1312912000
63.1 to FDM Karunaratne, gone now! A breakthrough finally! Or is it? Dimuth is standing his ground. This was a back of a length ball, just outside off stump. Dimuth flashes at it, trying to send it square on the offside, but it's a little too close to him. I think he's nicked that, but they are checking if it carried to Liton Das. Bangladesh celebrated straightaway, and they were right to. That's in the gloves safely. Shoriful created that edge by getting a little jag back in, with a cross-seam delivery.. 209/1
3878312.181723000
111.5 to DM de Silva, quick turn and bounce again, and Taijul has got a wicket for all his probing. Excellent length again, and again poor footwork from DDS. Just stands there and jabs at the ball reflexively after it jumps and turns more than expected from a good length, off-stump line. Couldn't pull his bat away like he did the previous ball, and the edge flies straight to slip, who takes a good sharp catch. Sri Lanka are in danger of collapsing quickly here. The ball hit the edge of Liton's glove, so Shanto did well to track the deflection. 328/4

BOWLINGOMRWECON0s4s6sWDNB

80.6 to Shoriful Islam, bowled him. Another big inswinger, straight into the base of off stump, and Shoriful, staying leg-side of the ball, looks to drive down the ground, playing well away from his body, and only manages an inside edge. 246/9
82.6 to Taijul Islam, oh no, what a way to go. Back of a length, slanting across to off stump, and he goes back and across to defend elegantly into the cover point region, but in doing so, he seems to have trodden onto his wicket. Oh no, this is quite sad. He went deep in his crease, but not so deep that he would have been hit wicket, but his left shoe came off, and he lost his balance as that happened and slid backwards and disturbed the stumps. Was he wearing a shoe a size too large for him? Or had he simply not fastened his laces tightly enough?. 251/10

20703.5091000

26.6 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, got him, that's a wicket off the last ball of the session. Lovely delivery, dips onto a good length just inside the line of off stump. Gets forward to defend, but his bat comes down at an angle, slicing downwards from gully, and he gets a thick outside edge that goes quickly to Lahiru Thirimanne at slip, at waist height. 99/2
64.5 to Mominul Haque, this his a huuuge breakthrough for Sri Lanka. Ramesh Mendis gets Mominul with a full toss that floats into his boot. That's a definite mistake from the batsman - a loss of concentration? This is flighted nicely, but Mominul plants the front foot and is very late to bring the bat down. It hits him on the line of off stump, and would be going on to hit the stumps. The umpire gives it after a voracious appeal, and Mominul doesn't bother reviewing.. 224/5
3279262.8714815000
25.4 to Saif Hassan, gone, that's a lovely way to get your first Test wicket. Flight, dip and turn away from a middle-stump line, and Saif, pressing forward to defend but not getting as close to the pitch of the ball as he wants to, gets a thick edge that gully grabs with both hands, moving quickly to his left. Saif's front pad was moving away from the line of the ball as he came forward, possibly because of some drift into him. 98/1
43.2 to Tamim Iqbal, Jayawickrama gets him! The change of angle has worked. This is tossed up nicely, dipping on the batter as it pitches on middle and off and straightens. But it's not spinning as much as Tamim expects. It goes on a little bit with the arm, and it takes his outside edge. Lahiru Thirimanne at slip does the rest. Huge wicket for Jayawickrama. And Tamim has to wait for a century against Sri Lanka. He'd looked so good in parts of this innings!. 151/3
61.4 to Mushfiqur Rahim, huge appeal for lbw as Mushfiqur for once misreads the length. Goes back to one that pitches on the fuller side of a good length, looking to cut, and the ball goes on with the arm to strike him on the front pad. Not given, but Sri Lanka have reviewed... It's beaten the inside edge comfortably and hit the front pad, on the knee-roll in front of middle stump, and he's gone back far enough for the ball to be crashing into middle and leg stumps, according to Hawkeye. Absolutely plumb, and Bangladesh lose another wicket at the fag end of a session. Mushfiqur was batting beautifully until that point, but one error of judgment can be enough with so much natural variation now happening. 214/4
65.3 to Litton Das, another one goes. Liton Das has been done by Jayawickrama now! Caught at slip. This is tossed up, flighted beautifully, dipping, pitching on middle stump and turning sharply away. Liton should have come forward to it, but goes back to play a defensive shot instead. He's surprised by the turn and the bounce, and the ball takes his outside edge and travels low to Thirimanne at slip, who has a safe pair of hands. Sri Lanka all over Bangladesh either side of tea.. 224/6
75.2 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, huge lbw appeal and given, but Mehidy reviews. This has struck him in front of middle and leg, but did it straighten enough to hit the stumps? It's flighted nicely and tossed up, but the release point is quite wide. Mehidy goes back to it when he should probably have come forward (same as Liton Das a while earlier). He tries to whip this through midwicket but is struck on about the knee roll, so that's definitely not bouncing over. Ball projection shows it would have taken out leg stump. Another one falls for Bangladesh.. 241/7
79.1 to Taskin Ahmed, this looks very close too! Another big lbw appeal. But it's turned down on the field. Sri Lanka review though. It's a nicely flighted delivery, pitching on a length, but miles outside off. Taskin goes back in the crease but is a little lazy bringing the bat down on it, and is struck on the knee roll in front of middle stump. Is that spinning so far it's missing leg though? No, says ball tracker. That's crashing into leg. Jayawickrama has six!. 243/8

2.2 to HDRL Thirimanne, got him, Mehidy finds sharp turn and finds Thirimanne's edge. Tossed up outside off, gets it to dip on Thirimanne as he presses forward to defend. Thick edge, goes low to the right of slip, and Shanto does very well to grab it with both hands while falling forward. 14/1
29.4 to DM de Silva, edged, and for the third time in this Test match, first slip takes a catch after a deflection off the keeper. Looks to make room to punch into the point region, and the ball doesn't turn as much as he expects. Thick edge, loops up off Liton's thigh, and Shanto has the easiest of catches to complete at slip. 124/5
10808.0021000
19.227253.72734201
3.1 to BOP Fernando, oh no, that wasn't very smart. Steps out, and Taijul spotted him coming and bowled it shorter and wider. Spins out of his reach and he flails desperately at the ball, hoping to connect and hit it over mid-off. He misses, and Liton does the rest. 15/2
13.3 to AD Mathews, caught at short leg! This is a nicely flighted delivery, pitching on middle and straightening, and Angelo gets himself into a tangle. Rather than getting his foot towards the pitch of the delivery, he clears the front leg for some reason, and tries to defend that way. The ball takes the inside edge and pops straight to the crouching fielder, who catches it around chest height.. 39/3
36.6 to P Nissanka, down the track, but he can't clear mid-on. Tossed up around off stump, and he gets a little too close to the pitch of the ball to get the elevation he wants with that wristy whip. Mid-on just has to move a couple of steps to his right to take this simple catch. 162/6
40.5 to RTM Mendis, tossed up a bit and Mendis goes for a big drive down the ground. He hasn't got to the pitch of that though, and as it has turned a bit, it takes the outside edge and pops up high towards point. The fielder there runs to his right and gobbles it up.. 180/8
42.2 to RAS Lakmal, Lakmal is out bowled! Taijul has his five-for. This is fired in, pitching on a length on off stump, straightening down the line. Lakmal goes back and tries to bludgeon over midwicket, but misses it totally (it was too full for that shot), and the ball rattles off stump.. 194/9
402616.50114000
39.5 to N Dickwella, holes out in search of quick runs. Caught at deep square leg! This is a bouncer into the body, and Dickwella sets himself up for a pull. Hits it reasonably well, but these are long-ish boundaries and it's down the gullet of the fielder, who runs a little to his left to get underneath it.. 178/7
402215.5082000
26.6 to FDM Karunaratne, flat, angled into the pads, and that's a superb catch at short leg! Yasir Ali, the substitute fielder. Karunaratne goes forward and flicks, right off the middle of the bat, but he finds Yasir in the way. Went straight to him, and he grabbed it with both hands after a bit of a juggle against his left thigh. 112/4

7.1 to Tamim Iqbal, Tamim has to go, and that's a huge moment in this innings! Caught behind having given a feather edge. This is looped in, drifting towards the pads, pitching on about middle and leg, then turning sharply to take the outside edge as Tamim is propped forward to block. Dickwella completes the take and Sri Lanka are ecstatic. A beautifully flighted, dipping offbreak there. Needed something special to get rid of Tamim in this form.. 31/1
31.6 to Mominul Haque, tries a cute deflection through third man, and is bowled! He's played that on. This is looped up from wide of off stump (Mendis is coming around the wicket). It pitches outside off and spins less than Mominul expects, maybe bouncing low as well. Either way, he's tried to guide that past slip, and it's taken the under/inside edge of his bat, and redirected the ball into the the base of off stump. Another big blow. Sri Lanka are marching.. 134/4
41.4 to Mushfiqur Rahim, Mendis gets him with another one that's spun hard form outside off. Mushfiq was in two minds there. Looked to come forward initially, to this ball that was pitching on a length. Decides late to go back and tap it into the legside. But it's taken off after pitching and it bounces into his gloves, brushes the shirt, and goes to leg slip where a simple catch is taken. The last of Bangladesh's experienced batters is gone. The pitch did a lot of the work there, but indecisiveness from Mushfiq contributed as well.. 171/5
69.4 to Taskin Ahmed, eight down. Shortish, but Taskin is in no position to pull as this spins sharply from leg stump away from off stump. Top-edges it, and it hangs high in the air before extra-cover settles under it, having moved a few steps to his left. 227/8
32108652.6815112000
16.4 to Saif Hassan, got him, that was a poor shot! He'd hit the offspinner over mid-off in the previous over, and now he looks to step out and do the same against the left-arm spinner. Looks to go inside-out again, but the ball dips on him on an off-stump line and spins away sharply, and he ends up quite a long way from the line of the ball. Goes through with the shot anyway, but only manages to slice it, and the ball balloons straight to the fielder at cover point. 73/2
22.5 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, and the change of angle works straightaway! Huge turn out of the rough! Looped up wide of off, and the ball dips on Shanto as he stretches out to defend. Leaves a gap between bat and pad, and the ball turns big and scoots into that gap to crash into his stumps. Dream delivery for a left-arm spinner. 104/3
50.2 to Litton Das, got him, I don't see how a review can save Liton here. This is superb bowling from Jayawickrama, the perfect follow-up to that previous ball. Presses forward to defend another delivery that lands on the perfect length - by which I mean the shortest length that draws the batsman forward. It still leaves a lot of distance between bat and where the ball lands, and this one goes on with the arm, past the inside edge, to strike the front pad plumb in front. Ball tracking shows the ball hitting a big chunk of leg stump, so Liton has to walk back. Not much he could have done about that ball, especially when it followed one that spun so sharply. 183/6
70.3 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, ten in the match on debut, and Mehidy falls to a brilliant bit of anticipation at short leg. Tossed up slow just outside off, and as soon as Mehidy shapes to lap-sweep, Nissanka begins moving to his right at short leg. The fielder at slip - Thirimanne, I think - was also on the move, towards leg slip. The ball ends up popping softly in the air, exactly where Nissanka is moving. The ball came straight off the middle of Mehidy's bat. 227/9
70.6 to Abu Jayed, and that is that, five-fors in both innings. You almost expected this, looking at the way Jayed defended the previous ball. Again Jayawickrama follows up a sharply spinning ball with one that goes with the arm. Undercutter, released with a lower arm, and quicker. Jayed is trapped on the crease, pulling his front pad away from the line and slicing his bat down desperately. Misses the inside edge and hits the back pad, plumb in front. The review was a mere formality. 227/10
711912.71311001
61.2 to Taijul Islam, soft dismissal! He tried to dab that with no footwork and gives an under-edge to the keeper. This is a flat delivery, drifting in to the batsman, pitching outside off and turning away. Taijul tries to steer it through third man, while rooted in position, and Dickwella accepts the edge. 206/7
