25.4 to KS Williamson, bowled him! Seventh time he's dismissed him in Tests! Massive, massive wicket for England. Another batsman chops on. One of those occasions when Williamson's soft hands may have done him a bit of harm. Back of a length, nips in a touch from outside off, and he goes on the back foot to defend. Hits the inside half of the bat, then the pitch, then spins back to upset the furniture. 86/2
117.1 to TG Southee, and there's the wicket. Lovely delivery, a hint of away shape in the corridor, and a bit of extra bounce from back of a length. Southee tries to get on his toes and defend, but only manages a thin edge through to Bracey, who gleefully accepts his first dismissal in Test cricket. 338/9
2757902.921278100
2867542.671286002
15.6 to TWM Latham, chopped on! Robinson celebrates his maiden Test wicket with a roar! In-between shot from Latham, neither forward nor back, as Robinson locates the length that has made him so successful in county cricket. It skews off the inside edge and onto the stumps, and England have their first wicket of the home Test summer. Held its line off the seam after the last one nipped away. 58/1
37.5 to LRPL Taylor, big appeal, and it's given! England have constantly looked for the lbw against Taylor, and they've got it now. No review from the batter either. Beautifully bowled. Perfect length, nipping in ever so slightly from outside off. Taylor's front pad comes in the way of bringing his bat down in a straight line as he looks to play this to mid-on/midwicket, and the ball sneaks past the inside edge to thud into pad, in line with middle and off or thereabouts. Pretty sure that was crashing into leg stump, possibly a part of middle too. 114/3
104.2 to C de Grandhomme, nips back to hit the pad and there's a prolonged appeal. "Is that pad first?" wonders one of England's fielders, and Root reviews. Angled in from that wide-on the-crease angle, and it looks like this hit the knee roll first, then the bat. Ultra-Edge confirms it. Impact in line, and hitting the top of middle and leg! Robinson gets his third, and CdG trudges off with a duck to his name! He came forward slightly tentatively to defend, and was beaten on the inside edge. 293/6
110.5 to KA Jamieson, got him, the short ball does the job. This one gets up a little higher outside off stump, and Jamieson takes on the pull despite having to fetch it from outside the line of his body. Only manages a top-edge, and Crawley takes a very good catch diving forward after running in off the deep square leg boundary. 317/8
2788133.001178100
97.2 to HM Nicholls, got him! A lot of teams try this tactic against Nicholls without a lot of success, but Wood bowls the perfect bouncer to get him miscontrolling his hook. This is a quick, skiddy bouncer that gets up around Nicholls' helmet, and he ends up top-edging his instinctive hook straight into the hands of long leg. Terrific delivery. 288/4
101.3 to BJ Watling, nicked and well held in the cordon! Angled in towards Watling's off stump, and he shapes to work to leg but gets a thick edge. It flies to Sibley at second slip, who holds onto a tough chance and grins in celebration. Quick ball, 88mph/142kph, and Watling was done for pace as much as anything else. Held its line rather than angling down the slope. He falls for just 1, and Wood is making the difference for England in this session. 292/5
105.5 to MJ Santner, chipped up to short extra cover! New Zealand are collapsing, and Wood has a third. Didn't look like a slower ball, but Santner was so early in his open-faced defensive prod towards cover, and only managed to chip the simplest of catches into the off side. NZ have lost 4 wickets for 6 runs!. 294/7

6.4 to Z Crawley, goes wider on the crease, Crawley drives loosely outside off, and edges through to Watling! New Zealand have two! Pitched up outside off, tempting Crawley into the big booming cover-drive, but he could only get an outside-edge on it. Used the crease well, changing his angle of attack and drawing the mistake. 18/2
52.5 to OJ Pope, big appeal, not given, was there some bat in it? Williamson has reviewed, with a loud "I don't think he's hit it." Southee has been out in the corridor right through this over, and then he's slanted a couple into the stumps. This one's nipped in a touch, and Pope, looking to drive down the ground, is beaten on the inside edge. Pretty good stride forward, but he's hit well below the knee roll. Smacking into middle and leg stumps is the verdict of ball-tracking, and Michael Gough will have to reverse his decision. Superb bowling from Southee, and New Zealand have made a brilliant start to the day. 140/4
54.1 to DW Lawrence, gone, that's a loose shot from Lawrence! Full, quite wide, and Lawrence throws his bat at a lazy, wafty drive. A bit of outswing to find a thick edge, and it carries straight to de Grandhomme at third slip, up near his right shoulder. 140/5
56.1 to JR Bracey, third duck of the innings, and it's Southee once again! Around the wicket to the left-hand batter, Southee pitches that in the perfect spot outside off and tails it in to sneak the ball through the gap between bat and pad, and right into the top of off and middle. What a lovely sight for a bowler to disturb the stumps, but not so much for Bracey on debut. 140/6
84.1 to OE Robinson, five-for! Southee has used the short ball superbly in this short spell so far, and he breaks this partnership with another well-directed one. Cramps him for room, angling in towards his ribcage, and he can't get a full extension of his arms into the pull. Only manages a top-edge that balloons to the left of Jamieson at long leg. 203/7
101.1 to RJ Burns, thin edge and that is six for Southee. Short of a length and just outside off, looks for the cut and has opened the face a touch too much. Easy take for Watling. 275/10
2688533.2612215002
3.1 to DP Sibley, tight line, nipping away, struck on the pad, and up goes the finger! Sibley reviews. The first time Jamieson has got his line right. Sibley's bat came down at a horrible angle, looking to work to leg, but I think this might have hit him just outside the line? No bat involved... impact in-line, and trimming the edge of off stump! Two yellows, but that's enough to send Sibley packing since Kettleborough gave him out on-field... Jamieson strikes early!. 4/1
43.1 to JE Root, and he strikes first ball with a cracking delivery! They're going up to the third umpire to check if it carried cleanly to first slip, though. The soft signal is out. Perfect length, angling into off stump and straightening, and Root has to try and defend it given the initial angle. May have been better off getting on the front foot than playing back to it, maybe, but it's a really hard ball to get first ball of the day. Edges it, and it carries low to first slip, where Ross Taylor gets both hands cleanly underneath the ball, no issues at all. On second look, I don't think Root could have gone forward to either. Just the perfect delivery. 111/3
85.3 to MA Wood, inside edge and that's carried through nicely. It's a full ball outside off, with a bit of shape away from him. But he's tentative on the cover drive, almost like he wanted to withdraw and then changed his mind. Feet stuck. He has also anticipated movement away from him that isn't there, and this pitches and skids onto the low part of the inside edge before carrying through to Watling. 207/8

2438313.451078203
91.6 to SCJ Broad, knocks off stump and screams in celebration. Wagner not hiding his emotions after being slugged over midwicket. This is full and curving in from outside off. Broad a long way down leg side, exposing the stumps, and looking to drill through the covers. Can't quite pull it off. 223/9

39.2 to TWM Latham, lbw given! Looks good for Broad, a wicket at long last if it is upheld. Latham with a reluctant review. Full inswinger from outside off, he looks to whip it through the leg side and is struck on the back thigh. It is umpire's call on impact, just about clipping leg stump, and that is all for Latham the batter this Test. Broad's first Test wicket in 81.2 overs since Angelo Mathews in January. 105/4
1452631.85712101
18.2 to DP Conway, inside edge onto the stumps! A length ball just outside off, Conway tentative on the forward push. Is slightly away from the body and that creates a big enough gap for the ball to sneak through off the bat. That might have hit the seam and come back in, Conway was defending for the angle away. 39/1
24.3 to KS Williamson, another big appeal and this time England review. It's their last review. Another length ball, honing in at middle stump. Williamson has shuffled across the stumps and been rapped in front of leg stump. It's climbing, it's hit the flap of the pad. And when it's shown on the big screen, there's a groan from the crowd - because it appears high. But the replay goes through and....it's three reds! That's hitting the top of leg stump! Robinson has his back. He's kept Williamson quiet and he's had him uncertain two balls in a row - might have well had him twice in two balls. Williamson's very nervous innings ends. 57/2
32.4 to N Wagner, taken by the keeper. Three out of three for Robinson. Short ball and awkwardly climbing again. he takes it on with the hook and gets it off the toe-end. Doesn't go too high, doesn't go too far. Bracey only has to take a few steps to his right. But Wagner's done his job. 74/3
703114.42283100
44.2 to LRPL Taylor, got him. Goes wide of the crease, angles a full ball into the corridor and gets it to curl away late. Taylor looks for a bottom-handed cover drive, and gets a thick edge that Bracey does well to catch two-handed after diving to his right. No real footwork from Taylor, just a forward press after which his hands took over entirely. 133/5
401614.00131000
51.1 to HM Nicholls, and Root strikes, the reverse-sweep doesn't come off. Flat, angling into the stumps, and Nicholls is a touch too early on the shot, and his bat is already in its follow-through when the ball hits his glove and lobs up towards slip. Burns does well, in fact, to run to his left and dive forward to grab it inches off the ground. 159/6

30.3 to Z Crawley, got him, Southee's got Crawley twice in the match, and in similar fashion too. Full, swinging away outside off, and again Crawley aims a loose drive at the ball. Doesn't get his weight into the shot, and ends up slicing it in the air and straight to gully. Good catch by Nicholls, that was travelling quickly and straight at his head. Crawley played that a long, long way in front of his body. 56/2

1672721.68832003
23.4 to RJ Burns, this time he finds the edge, and it looks like it's carried too! This is most un-Wagnerian, but it's top-class bowling nonetheless. Shows he's no one-trick pony. Southee dives to his right at second slip and takes it in both hands, inches off the ground, after Burns pokes at one that leaves him in the corridor. This was closer to off stump than the previous ball, and a touch shorter, and his feet were rooted to the crease. It pitched on or around off stump, so he had to play at that. 49/1
55.3 to JE Root, big appeal for lbw as Root plays back to a length ball and plays across the line as it straightens into him, and the finger goes up immediately. Did that pitch in line with the stumps? No inside edge. Yup, it's just about pitching in line with leg stump, and it's straightening to hit a good chunk of leg stump according to ball-tracking. New Zealand still have an outside chance here.... 136/3
