Sultan Rana, brother of the late umpire Shakoor Rana - him of the infamous, frenzied squabble with Mike Gatting - has been associated with cricket in varying capacities for several decades. A 17-year veteran of the first-class circuit, Rana scored 7128 runs, including 10 centuries, across 172 games before transitioning into an administrative role. Rana was a national selector for the PCB between 2002 and 2005, and has refereed tournaments, apart from managing several teams and global events in his professional career. He also has a Level 1 coaching certificate from the ICC/PCB, and done commentary for several media outlets. Rana's skills extend beyond the cricket field, too; he has captained the Pakistan golf team at the international level.
