Kenny is captain of his club side Railway Union and gave Ireland coach Adrian Birrell something of a selection headache when he hit an unbeaten hundred against Eastern Province in January 2007 in the build up to the World Cricket League. He is an opening batsman with all the shots and attended the ICC Winter Training Camp in both 2005 and 2006 which Birrell believes has "taken his game to a completely new level". 2006 was a hugely productive season for him domestically as he led Railway Union to four domestic titles including the clubs first ever Irish Senior Cup title. He was born in Dublin and has represented Ireland Under-23s and Ireland A before graduating to the national side. He played a single match for Ireland in their encouraging World Cup campaign in 2007
