The son of former Australia coach John Buchanan, Nick Buchanan is a fast bowler who was named in Australia's squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2010. He gained eight wickets in four games at the tournament, and at the end of the summer picked up a rookie contract at Queensland for 2010-11. He has also represented Australia at schoolboy level in rugby union.
