Wisden overview
The only Bengali to play for Pakistan, Raquibul Hassan's prospects of a lengthy Test career were shattered in March 1971, when Bangladesh's war of liberation began. The final day of his unofficial debut, against a touring Commonwealth XI, was abandoned when the crowd invaded the field and burnt down the stadium. Raquibul fled to Calcutta, from where his efforts contributed to the rebuilding of Bangladeshi cricket, and he later became the country's first captain. Played two ODIs in 1985-86, against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup, before working behind the scenes in the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Tournament director of the Under-19 World Cup in February and March 2004. Andrew Miller
