Ryan Pringle did much to pronounce himself a genuine all-rounder when he broke into Durham's first-team midway through the 2015 season. He might also have had a maiden Championship century to show for his efforts, only to fall for 99 against Hampshire in controversial circumstances when he felt the ball had gone through to the wicketkeeper off his helmet.
It took quite a negotiation, however, before he stuck around the following season and his return with the ball was disappointing as he managed only 29 Championship wickets in the next two years as Durham's specialist spinner in seasons when new toss regulations encouraged slow bowling.
Pringle first came into the limited-overs side with a reputation as a big-hitter but soon broadened his game. He has been involved with Durham since 10, made his first-class debut against Somerset at Taunton in 2014, a summer in which he also completed a degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Sunderland University.
