As part of the ICC development program to globalise the game of cricket a
two-day Development Seminar has been arranged on 9th - 10th November 2001 at
the United Cricket Board's Office Boardroom.
Delegates from the East, (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania), Central (Malawi, Zambia)
and Southern Africa, (Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia) will attend the seminar.
"This is indeed a very important milestone in the development of the game in
Africa" says Hoosain Ayob, ICC Development Manager for Africa.
The seminar will focus mainly on Strategic Planning for each country
covering issues such as Management, Marketing and Promotion, Coach
Education, the development program, equipment and facilities.
UCB CEO Gerald Majola will open the seminar and welcome the delegates. At a
recent Africa Cricket Association meeting held in Harare, the UCB offered to
assist Africa with its development program. The UCB will take an active
role in steering the Africa Development Program.
The West Africa Development Seminar will take place next year in Lagos,
Nigeria.
