At Dharamsala, March 13, 2016. Netherlands won by 12 runs. Netherlands 59-5 (6 overs) (G. H. Dockrell 3-7); ‡Ireland 47-7 (6 overs) (P. A. van Meekeren 4-11). MoM: P. A. van Meekeren.
More inclement weather did little to brighten up the sombre mood of two teams unhappy at the lack of opportunities for Associate sides. And the rain conspired to make this a six-over lottery. The pitch was tacky after its time under the covers, and the Netherlands were restricted to 59, despite swinging at everything. Paul Stirling got Ireland off to the ideal start, bringing the task down to 32 from four, with nine wickets in hand. But Paul van Meekeren, a tall seamer from Amsterdam, used the pitch cannily, banging in cutters halfway down. A stunning catch here, a top edge there - and a panicky Ireland lost the game in a trice.
