Abahani ltd, in their Super Six competition of GrameenPhone Premier League, posted a 32-run victory over their neighbor KCC (Kalabagan Krira Chakra) at Fotullah Stadium while Uttara Club trounced Young Cricketers by 8 wickets at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium and evaded the relegation.
In response to Abahani's 209, KCC were packed up for 177 in the 45th over. Neeyamur Rashid, the all rounder, made the highest score of 52 for Abahani where Moniruzzaman (32) and Ahsanullah Hasan (37) marked off with supportive knocks. Neeyamur hammered 4 boundaries and a six in his 69-ball innings.
Though Nahidul Haq, the chubby left-handed opener, ran up a gleaming 74 (With the help of ten fours) in 117 balls, no other batsmen in the rest of the KCC order worked well with the Abahani bowlers, particularly in dealing with Ahsanullah Hasan, Alamgir and Anwar Hossain.
Hasan (The man-of-the-match) mopped up the tail by picking 3 wickets where Alamgir and Anwar, the new ball operators, shared two wickets each.
In the other match at Dhanmondi Stadium Uttara Club confirmed their participation in next year Premier League by making an easy victory over Young Cricketers (193 all out). Moniruzzaman (101) sparked off with a swashbuckling century for Uttara and played the key role in the victory (194/2 at the end). He slashed 15 shots to the rope and picked once the aerial route to get by with the hundred that took only 84 balls.
