Cricket Australia and the International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that ICC Match Referee Mike Procter, currently officiating in the Second 3 Test between Australia and Bangladesh in Cairns, will return to South Africa following the death of his father.
Procter will not take any further part in the match and will be replaced for the remaining days of the Test by former Australian all-rounder and current Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour Commissioner Ron Archer.
Archer, who played 19 Tests from 1952-1957 was appointed to the interim position by Queensland Cricket at the request of Cricket Australia, with the selection sanctioned by the ICC and the management of both the Australian and Bangladesh teams.
Following the Test, it is expected that Indian ICC Match Referee Gundappa Viswanath will travel to Australia to oversee the three-match VB Series of one-day internationals beginning on 2 August.
