Winning the toss and batting, Easterns lost an early wicket, but consolidated well with Sven Koenig, Zander de Bruin, Daryll Cullinan and Dylan Jenning making half-centuries. Alfonso Thomas kept Northerns in the game with a fine spell of bowling, ending the innings with 4 for 67. At close Northerns were 5 for no loss.
