Scorecard
Auckland won the State Championship 2004-05 with a seven-wicket triumph over Wellington in the final at Auckland's Eden Park Oval. Beginning the final day on 52 for 1, needing 156 more runs for victory, Auckland managed with ease, losing only two further wickets.
Richard Jones, the 31-year-old right-hand batsman, was the star of the final innings, scoring an unbeaten 114 with 18 boundaries to take his team to victory. Wellington's only chance lay in picking up early wickets, but that not to be. Jones was well supported by Rob Nicol (36), who helped add 117 for the second wicket.
When Nicol was finally dismissed, the score was already 139, and even another minor blip, when Brooke Walker, the captain, was dismissed on just 2, could not stop Auckland's romp to victory.
