India v New Zealand

15-Apr-2004
At Hyderabad, November 15, 2003 (day/night). India won by 145 runs. India 6 pts. Toss: India.
New Zealand's chances were not good after Fleming withdrew injured, and they were even worse after India, batting first, skipped through to 353 for five. Fuelled by barnstorming centuries from Sehwag and Tendulkar - his 36th in one-day internationals - and an incandescent knock from Dravid, India qualified for the final in style. Tendulkar restrained himself early on, before accelerating to reach his hundred off 87 balls. There was still time for Dravid to unleash his party trick, an eye-popping half-century off just 22 balls - equalling the second fastest by an Indian batsman, and including five fours and three sixes. The New Zealanders never got near the target despite a quick-fire 54 off 49 balls from Styris and another mature innings from McCullum.
Man of the Match: V. Sehwag.
