The Titans advanced to the Standard Bank Cup Final after comprehensively beating the Dolphins. On what turned out to be a dream pitch on which to bat, the Titans cruised past their opponents and now face the Eagles in the final on Friday evening.

After sending the Dolphins in under cloudy skies and restricting them to 212 for 5 in their 45 overs, the Titans walked away with a 10-wicket massacre. Goolam Bodi, with 104, and AB de Villers, falling just short with 97, raced past the target in 25.3 overs as they pushed the total to 218 without loss. Their partnership is also a new Titans record for any wicket for the competition as they punished the bowling to all parts of the grounds. There was little a lack lustre Dolphins team could do to counter the two batsmen, as the pitch eased into a near-perfect batting track. Together, the pair stuck 21 boundaries and eight sixes with Lance Klusener employing nine bowlers to get a breakthrough.

With de Villiers only arriving back in the country yesterday, the only problem for the Titans was the cramp that he experienced late in the innings; for the rest, it was plain sailing into the final.

The Titans innings never gained any momentum after they were asked to bat first under overcast conditions. The ball did move around, but full credit must go to the Titans' attack for getting the ball into the right areas. Scoring was difficult throughout the innings, with Ahmed Amla again top-scoring for the visitors with a fine 53. With Klusener failing, it was left to Dale Benkenstein (31 off 27 balls) and Duncan Brown (26 off 22) to try and set the Titans a target, but they fell well short.
